How the Soul Binder Works

The Soul Binder is a machine that requires a capacitor to operate. You have two options for powering the crafting process: you can pipe in liquid XP, or you can use XP directly from the player. The machine will display the XP levels needed for each recipe, giving you flexibility in how you approach your crafting.

Creating Custom Spawners with Broken Spawners

Capturing Animal Souls

One of the primary uses of the Soul Binder is converting Broken Spawners into custom mob spawners. To do this, you’ll first need to capture an animal’s soul using a Soul Vile.

A Soul Vile is crafted from Salarium and Fused Quartz Glass. Once you have one, simply right-click on any animal in the world to capture its soul. For example, you can capture a donkey’s soul to create a donkey Soul Vile.

Binding the Soul to a Broken Spawner

With your Soul Vile ready, take a Broken Spawner (commonly found in dungeons) and place it in the left input slot of the Soul Binder. Insert your Soul Vile in the adjacent slot. The machine will require zero to eight levels of XP depending on the recipe, and you can use Player XP to power the process.

As the Soul Binder processes the items, you’ll see a progress bar advancing. The higher the tier of your capacitor, the faster this process will complete. Once finished, you’ll receive an empty Soul Vile back, and the Broken Spawner will now be bound to the donkey mob type.

Converting to a Powered Spawner

The Broken Spawner you’ve created cannot be used directly. To make it functional, you must combine your newly-bound Broken Spawner with a Powered Spawner in an Anvil. This final step creates a fully operational Powered Spawner that you can place in your world.

Advanced Soul Binder Recipes

Enticing Crystals

You can combine a Soul Vile with a villager, an emerald, and four Enchantment levels (four XP levels) to create an Enticing Crystal. This crystal can be used in an Attractor Obelisk for advanced mob control setups.

Animal-Specific Pressure Plates

One of the most useful recipes is creating Salarium Pressure Plates tuned to specific animals. When you use a Soul Vile from a particular mob type, the resulting pressure plate will only activate when that specific animal walks on it. For example, you can create pressure plates that activate exclusively for llamas, parrots, villagers, or any other captured mob.

Item Conduit Filters

Soul Viles can also be used to create specialized filters for item conduits, allowing you to control item transportation based on your specific building needs.
