The Ultimate Guide to the Relics Mod in Minecraft

The Relics mod adds 25 unique, equipable relics to Minecraft, each found in specific biomes and loot chests across every dimension. Each relic slots into your Curios inventory, carries randomised ability quality, and can be levelled up using player experience. This guide walks you through exactly how the mod works — from finding your first relic to mastering every single one of them.

How the Relics Mod Works

Equipping Relics via the Curios Slot

Relics are equipped inside your Curios slot. Once a relic is in the slot, hold Left Shift to open the relic’s information screen, where you can view its abilities, quality rating, and upgrade options.

Finding Relics in the World

Every relic in the game spawns inside loot chests found throughout various biomes and dimensions. There are 25 relics in total to collect. Note that the researching table has been completely removed from the mod — all progression happens through the relic interface itself.

Ability Quality and Loot Rolls

When you pick up a relic, the game performs a loot roll on it, assigning it an ability quality between 0.5 and 5. Think of this like item rarity tiers — uncommon, rare, and epic. The higher the ability quality, the stronger the relic’s abilities will be. You can see the current quality displayed as a small bar beneath the relic in your Curios screen.

Rerolling Stats with Player Experience

You can reroll a relic’s random stats using player experience — the same XP you earn from killing mobs, mining ore, and smelting items in vanilla Minecraft. The base cost to reroll is 50 experience points, which is roughly five levels. To reroll, open your Curios menu, navigate to the relic, and click Reroll Random Stats. You can also hold Shift to automatically keep rerolling until you reach perfect values.

The Luck System

Every time a reroll results in a lower ability quality than your current value, you gain Luck percentage. Luck increases your chances of rolling higher stats on future attempts. However, there is a trade-off: the higher your Luck percentage, the more expensive each reroll becomes. For example, at 4% Luck the cost rises to 70 player experience, and at 8% Luck it climbs to 90 player experience. At 100% Luck, you are effectively guaranteed a full 5 out of 5 quality roll — but the experience cost will be at its highest.

Levelling Up Abilities with Relic Experience

In addition to player experience, each relic also has its own Relic Experience bar. You earn relic experience simply by using the relic’s ability. For example, walking on lava while wearing the Magma Walkers will steadily fill the relic XP bar. As the relic levels up, its abilities improve — and once an ability reaches level 10, you unlock upgrade points to further enhance it manually. Each relic in your inventory also passively receives 25% of the experience gained by any other relic you are using at the same time.

Every Relic in the Relics Mod

Magma Walkers (Feet Slot)

Where to find: Nether-themed loot chests — any chest whose loot table name contains words such as inferno, hell, kazem, lava, magma, melt, fire, flame, blaze, ember, or pyre. This includes biome mod chests that use those tags. They also have a chance to spawn in any Nether chest at one-fifth the normal spawn rate.

Abilities:

  • Fiery Tread — Allows walking on the surface of lava without sinking or taking damage. Duration ranges from 21 seconds at base quality up to a maximum of 100 seconds when fully levelled. After the duration expires, the boots overheat and begin dealing damage. They must cool down before you can use them again.
  • Heat Distance — Suppresses damage from hot blocks.

Reflecting Necklace (Necklace Slot)

Where to find: Ruined Nether portal chests with a spawn weight of 500. Also spawns in other Nether-tagged loot tables and in any Nether chest at a spawn weight of 100 (one-fifth of the primary rate).

Abilities:

  • Infernal Hatred — Accumulates damage taken by the wearer into an eternal buffer with a capacity of 30 to 3 units (upgradeable). Five seconds after the last damage received, or if the buffer overflows, the relic explodes and shatters obsidian shards in all directions, dealing damage to surrounding enemies.

Aqua Walkers (Feet Slot)

Where to find: Ocean, coastland, river, stream, creek, and tributary biome chests — any loot table containing those biome markers.

Abilities:

  • Moisture Resistance — Allows walking on the surface of water for a set period of time, similar in function to the Magma Walkers.

Midnight Robe (Back Slot)

Where to find: Any dimension whose loot table contains end or stronghold, with a spawn weight of 500. Also spawns in any End dimension chest at a spawn weight of 100.

Abilities:

  • Vanished — Grants complete invisibility and increases movement speed by 22% when the light level is below 2. This ability is togglable  using the Left Alt key outside of the inventory interface. Does not function if the wearer has been silenced.
  • Betrayal — Attacking while under the Vanished effect deals 60% increased damage, marks a circle with a radius of 20 blocks around the target, and dispels your invisibility. The Vanished ability cannot be re-activated until you exit that marked circle.

Drowned Belt (Belt Slot)

Where to find: Wet biomes — ocean, sea, marine, beach, river, and similar — with a spawn weight of 300.

Abilities:

  • Load Capacity — Increases the number of amulet equipment slots available to the player.
  • Dead Weight — Reduces swimming speed and increases sinking speed, but massively increases damage dealt by the player while underwater.
  • Water Attraction — Allows tridents’ Loyalty/Riptide ability to be used without rain or water, but adds a cooldown to the weapon.

Jellyfish Necklace (Necklace Slot)

Where to find: Water biomes.

Abilities:

  • Prevents sinking in water.
  • Electrical Discharge — Deals damage when you collide with enemies.
  • Paralysis (unlocked at ability level 5) — When Electrical Discharge activates, paralysis is applied to the target for 0.5 to 1.5 seconds, scaling up to a maximum of 3 seconds when fully levelled.

Hunter Belt (Belt Slot)

Where to find: Overworld chests.

Abilities:

  • Load Capacity — Increases the maximum number of amulet slots.
  • Massively increases damage dealt by the wearer’s pets.

Rage Gloves (Hand Slot)

Where to find: Nether chests.

Abilities:

  • Berserker Rage — Each attack made within three seconds of the previous one accumulates one charge, progressively ramping up your damage output.
  • Lobotomy — Increases attack speed and movement speed while granting passive health regeneration based on your missing health.
  • Spurt (activated ability) — Performs a dash in the direction you are facing, igniting blocks, inflicting bleeding, and attacking every target in your path with your held item. Damage dealt to each target scales with the number of Berserker Rage charges currently stored.

Ice Skates (Feet Slot)

Where to find: Frozen biomes with a spawn weight of 300.

Abilities:

  • Skating — Increases movement speed on ice.
  • Ram — While equipped in the feet slot, enables you to ram into enemies while sliding. Deals damage per second of sliding generated by the Skating ability.

Bastion Ring (Ring Slot)

Where to find: Bastions and Piglin-inhabited structures.

Abilities:

  • Makes Piglins neutral toward the wearer — effectively replacing the need to wear gold armour in the Nether.
  • Respect — Each trade with a Piglin has a chance to yield additional trade results. At base level this can trigger 0 to 1 extra times per trade, scaling up to a maximum of 6 times when fully levelled.

Chorus Inhibitor

Where to find: Any End chest, or any chest using an End or Stronghold loot table, with a spawn weight of 500.

Abilities:

  • Using Chorus Fruit teleports the wearer to a block along their direct line of sight nearby, giving you precise control over your teleportation destination.

Space Deflector

Where to find: Primarily ruined Nether portal chests. Also spawns in Nether biome chests whose loot tables contain inferno, hell, kazem, lava, magma, blaze, or similar tags.

Abilities:

  • Dissection — Holding Right Mouse Button creates a portal at a point along your line of sight. Releasing within 25 blocks creates a second portal, functioning similarly to a portal gun.

Holy Locker

Unlocking: This relic uses a unique dot-connecting puzzle to research its abilities. You must connect matching dots using the image displayed in the background as a guide. If you prefer to skip the puzzle, you can click the automatic research button, which costs approximately 22 levels of player experience.

Abilities:

  • Faith (two togglable modes):
  • Holiness mode (red) — Steals a portion of healing from visible entities nearby.
  • Unholiness mode (blue) — Deals damage to all nearby enemies within the same radius based on the healing you receive.
  • Penitence — Ignites undead enemies nearby.
  • Ascension — Killing a target grants the wearer a temporary stacking immortality effect.

Ender Hand

Where to find: End and Stronghold loot tables.

Abilities:

  • Neutrality — Makes Endermen neutral toward the wearer.
  • End Transition — Swaps the positions of the user and a targeted entity within a line-of-sight range of 20 blocks.

Elytra Boost (Back Slot)

Where to find: End biome chests.

Abilities: Increases Elytra flight speed while gliding.

Magic Mirror

Where to find: Cave-based loot chests — any biome or structure whose name contains cave, cavern, grotto, hollow, den, chamber, crypt, subterranean, or mine (such as mineshafts).

Abilities:

  • Wormhole — Teleports the owner to their spawn point if it is within a set range of blocks. The maximum range increases and the cooldown decreases as the ability is levelled up.

Ice Breaker

Where to find: Icy biome chests.

Abilities:

  • Increases full movement speed and boosts knockback resistance while sliding on ice.
  • Earthquake — Activating the ability while falling creates a shockwave on landing that deals area-of-effect damage.

Blazing Flask

Where to find: Fiery Nether biome chests.

Abilities: Using the ability on a block creates a restricted flight zone with a maximum flight speed and height determined by the amount of fire within the surrounding radius.

Spore Sack

Where to find: Jungle, rainforest, bamboo, and other humid biome chests — any loot table containing tags like spore, mist, humid, or jungle.

Abilities:

  • Spore Mist — When your health drops below 50%, homing spores are released around you. These deal damage equal to a percentage of your missing health and block healing on affected targets for 5 seconds. This ability can only trigger again once your health rises back above 50%.

Shadow Glaive

Where to find: End biome chests and entities.

Abilities:

  • Mayhem — Damage dealt has a chance to generate a projectile that bounces between enemy targets.
  • Cloning — Each projectile bounce has a chance to spawn an identical projectile that chaotically bounces around the area as well.

Roll Escapes (Feet Slot)

Where to find: Anywhere in the Overworld with a spawn weight of 100 — one of the rarer relics.

Abilities:

  • Acceleration — Increases movement speed by 50% per second of continued movement, allowing the wearer to build up significant speed over time.

Infinite Ham

Where to find: Village chests and Pillager Outpost chests, with a spawn weight of 500. Also spawns in similar village-type or outpost structures added by other mods.

Abilities:

  • Regeneration — Regenerates up to 6 edible chunks every set number of seconds, restoring hunger points.
  • Marinade — Allows you to apply potion effects to the relic by left-clicking it with a potion in your inventory.
  • Meat Bat — Allows the relic to be used as a melee weapon, dealing damage and stunning the target on hit.

Lever Belt (Belt Slot)

Where to find: Common Overworld chests.

Abilities:

  • Load Capacity — Increases the number of amulets you can wear simultaneously. A straightforward utility relic for expanding your equipment slots.

Wool Mitten (Hand Slot)

Where to find: Mountainous and icy biomes with the tag mold or similar.

Abilities:

  • Hold an empty hand and press Right Mouse Button to gradually collect snow and form special hardened snowballs. These can be thrown at targets to deal damage and stun them.

Amphibian Foot (Feet Slot)

Where to find: Ocean and aquatic biome chests.

Abilities:

  • Fins — Increases swimming speed.
  • Slipping — Increases movement speed in the rain.
  • Gills — Grants a small percentage chance to not consume an air unit while swimming or in other underwater conditions.

Leafy Ring — Work in Progress

The Leafy Ring is currently listed as a work in progress within the mod. No abilities are finalised yet, so check back in future mod updates.

Phantom Boot (Feet Slot)

Where to find: End and Stronghold loot tables.

Abilities:

  • Phantom Bridge — Creates a temporary phantom bridge beneath your feet that any relic owner can walk on, effectively generating an invisible platform in mid-air.

Springy Boot (Feet Slot)

Where to find: Mountain, peak, summit, ridge, highland, and similar elevated biome chests.

Abilities:

  • Elasticity — Increases the elasticity of all blocks, comparable to slime blocks, allowing the wearer to bounce up and down on surfaces.
