Power Generation & Storage Guide – Industrial Revolution Mod

Power Generation & Storage Guide – Industrial Revolution Mod

One of the first things you’ll want to accomplish in Industrial Revolution is establishing a reliable power system for your machines. This guide covers everything you need to know about generating power, transferring it efficiently, and storing it for later use.

Power Generation

Coal Generator

The coal generator is your first power-generation option and should be one of the earliest machines you craft. To build a coal generator, you’ll need:

Heat coils (made from copper plates)

Machine block (made from nickelite dust)

Iron plates

Batteries

Simply gather these materials and use a hammer to craft the coal generator. Once built, you can place coal in the middle of the machine, and it will heat up to generate energy.

Cooling Your Coal Generator

As you use the coal generator, the machine will get hotter — but don’t worry. Industrial Revolution machines do not explode, so overheating isn’t a catastrophic failure. However, you can improve efficiency by adding coolants. There are three types of cooling mechanisms available:

Fan — The easiest cooling option, made from tin plates. This is your best bet early game.

Cooler Cell — Requires coolant, which is made by infusing water and lapis together. You’ll need access to a fluid infuser first.

Heat Sink — The most efficient option, made from tin plates, coolant, and fans combined. This provides the best cooling performance.

Heat Generator

The heat generator uses more advanced materials than the coal generator, so you may not have access to it immediately. This generator creates energy by processing lava. Simply pump lava into the machine using a bucket or pipes, and it will convert the lava into usable energy.

Solar Generator

Solar generators produce power passively by being placed under sunlight. An upgraded solar generator version is also available and produces more energy than the standard version.

Biomass Generator

The biomass generator converts biomass into energy. To use this generator, you first need to create biomass by recycling organic materials like wood and dirt in a recycler. Once you have biomass, place it in the biomass generator to produce energy.

Power Storage

Once you’re generating power, you’ll want to store it for later use. Industrial Revolution offers four storage tiers via the Lazuli Flux Container:

Mark One — Stores 10,000 energy

Mark Two — Stores 100,000 energy

Mark Three — Stores 1,000,000 energy

Mark Four — Stores 10,000,000 energy

Higher-tier containers cost more to craft but offer significantly more storage capacity. Choose the tier that matches your power needs.

Power Transport

To move power between machines and storage containers, you’ll use cables. Like the Lazuli Flux Containers, cables come in four marks:

Mark One cables

Mark Two cables

Mark Three cables

Mark Four cables

Configuring Input and Output with the Screwdriver

To control which sides of a machine receive or send power, you’ll use a screwdriver. Right-click on any machine with a screwdriver to open its configuration menu. Each side can be set to one of three modes:

Orange — Output (power flows out)

Blue — Input (power flows in)

None — No power transfer on this side

Finding Connected Cables

If you’re unsure which side a cable is connected to, right-click the screwdriver on that side. The screwdriver will display information showing if a cable is connected and its mark level (for example, “connected to cable mark one”). This makes configuration much easier when you can’t see the connection clearly.

Setting Input or Output

Once you’ve identified the correct side, you can adjust its mode. Left-click with the screwdriver to cycle through the options: input, output, or none. For example, to charge a storage container from a generator, set the generator side to output and the container side to input.

Charging Pads

Industrial Revolution includes a charge pad that allows you to charge items and equipment wirelessly. Simply place items on the charge pad, and they will charge automatically. Power the charge pad from the bottom using cables connected to your power network.

Summary

You now have all the knowledge needed to establish a complete power system in Industrial Revolution. Start with a coal generator using fans for cooling, expand to solar and heat generators as you progress, store your excess power in Lazuli Flux Containers, and transport energy efficiently using cables configured with your screwdriver. Remember that Mark Two, Three, and Four tiers offer better efficiency and capacity as you advance through the mod.
