MineColonies Chicken Farmers Hut Complete Tutorial

MineColonies Chicken Farmers Hut Complete Tutorial

The Chicken Farmer’s Hut is one of the essential agricultural buildings in MineColonies that allows you to rear and breed chickens automatically. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know about setting up and managing your chicken farm, from initial construction through advanced worker management and breeding mechanics.

Building the Chicken Farmer’s Hut

The Chicken Farmer’s Hut is located in the Agriculture section of your build tool. Navigate through Build Tool → Agriculture → Husbandry → Chicken Farmer to access the building schematics. The structure comes in five different levels, each progressively larger and more capable than the last.

Available schematics include Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 designs. Choose the appropriate level based on your colony’s needs and resources.

Getting Started with Chickens

Once your Chicken Farmer’s Hut is built, you can assign a worker to the building manually or through automatic assignment. However, the hut will not automatically stock chickens — you must actively lead or place chickens into the pen to get started.

The easiest way to populate your farm is by throwing eggs into the pen. When you throw eggs, there’s a chance to spawn chickens. Once you have at least two chickens in the pen, they will breed automatically without further intervention.

Worker Skills and Requirements

Your Chicken Farmer will need specific skills to be effective at their job. The two most important skills are:

Adaptability

A higher adaptability skill increases the chance for your worker to pick up eggs, meat, and feathers from the chickens.

Agility

Agility impacts your worker’s ability to hit chickens while chasing them around, which is necessary when butchering.

Tools and Equipment

Your Chicken Farmer requires an axe to work effectively. Place an axe in their inventory, and they will use it to harvest eggs, meat, and feathers from the chickens, while also collecting seeds as a byproduct.

The tool tier improves with building level:

Level 1–2: Stone axes

Level 3–4: Iron axes

Level 5: Diamond and enchanted axes

Seeds collected by the Chicken Farmer can be delivered directly from other workers like the Farmer or through a Courier from a Warehouse or Career.

Workstation Management

When you open the Chicken Farmer’s Hut workstation, you’ll see several management options:

Worker Management

View the name of your assigned worker. From here, you can fire the worker or pause their work if needed.

Automatic Hiring

Toggle automatic hiring to allow the hut to automatically hire workers if the current one leaves or is dismissed.

Breeding Settings

You can toggle chicken breeding on or off in the settings menu. If you want to prevent automatic breeding, simply turn this setting off.

Minimum Stock

Set a minimum stock level for eggs if you want to maintain a specific inventory. The hut will continue breeding chickens until this threshold is met.

Building Statistics

Track all resources produced by your hut, including feathers, seeds, raw chicken, and eggs harvested over time.

Inventory and Storage

The Chicken Farmer’s Hut maintains its own inventory storage for all eggs and related items produced. Access the inventory tab to view current stock and monitor production.

Chicken Capacity by Building Level

Each building level supports a different maximum number of chickens:

Level 1: 2 chickens maximum

Level 2: 4 chickens maximum

Level 3: 6 chickens maximum

Level 4: 8 chickens maximum

Level 5: 10 chickens maximum

The hut will maintain its set capacity by automatically slaughtering excess chickens once the limit is reached and new chicks grow to maturity.

Summary

The Chicken Farmer’s Hut is a straightforward but essential part of MineColonies agriculture. Set up the building, assign a skilled worker with good adaptability and agility, provide an appropriate-tier axe, and populate the pen with at least two chickens. From there, your chickens will breed automatically, and your farmer will harvest eggs, meat, and feathers for your colony. Manage capacity and breeding settings through the workstation interface to keep your farm running efficiently.
