How to Find & Kill the Urghast in The Twilight Forest

How to Find & Kill the Urghast in The Twilight Forest

The Urghast is one of the major bosses in The Twilight Forest mod, and defeating it requires careful navigation through a massive tower structure. This guide walks you through locating the Urghast, navigating its dark forest tower, and successfully defeating this powerful boss to claim valuable loot.

Prerequisites: Defeating Earlier Bosses

Before you attempt to find the Urghast, you must have already defeated the Phantom bosses in The Twilight Forest. These earlier encounters prepare you for the challenges ahead in the deep dark forest.

Locating the Urghast Tower

The Urghast resides in a massive building structure located deep within the dark forest. This tower is generally positioned in the center of the dark forest biome. While most of the dark forest is covered with dense foliage, the tower itself has an open exterior, allowing you to approach it from outside.

You can choose to climb the tower’s exterior or enter through the interior passages. To enter through the tower’s blocks, simply right-click them—they will disappear temporarily, allowing you to pass through and access the interior sections.

Navigating the Tower’s Maze

Like all structures in The Twilight Forest, the Urghast tower is essentially a maze that requires you to navigate upward. The tower is extremely tall—reaching from near ground level all the way to the top requires significant climbing. The interior contains multiple passages and pathways, so be prepared for a challenging ascent.

While navigating the tower, you’ll encounter numerous loot chests throughout the structure if you decide to explore thoroughly. The height of this tower makes it a serious challenge, but the rewards are worth the effort.

Continue climbing until you reach the very top of the tower, where you’ll find the boss chamber containing the Urghast spawner.

The Urghast Boss Fight

Boss Characteristics

The Urghast is essentially a supercharged Ghast—a massive flying boss that dwarfs its smaller counterparts. The creature’s primary attack method is launching fireballs at you, similar to regular Ghasts but with significantly more power and frequency.

Combat Strategy

The most effective weapon against the Urghast is a very strong bow. If you have access to heavily modded weaponry, the fight becomes considerably easier. Your strategy should focus on:

Maintaining distance from the boss

Using ranged attacks with your strongest bow

Attempting to reflect the Urghast’s fireballs back at it, just as you would with regular Ghasts

Mini Ghasts

During the battle, the Urghast will summon smaller mini Ghasts. These creatures attack alongside the main boss. You can defeat these mini Ghasts to gradually weaken the main Urghast, making the overall fight more manageable. Prioritizing these smaller enemies can provide a tactical advantage.

Boss Rewards

Upon defeating the Urghast, you’ll receive valuable loot typical of Twilight Forest bosses:

Chest: A treasure chest containing miscellaneous valuable items

Ghast Trophy: A trophy commemorating your victory

Carbonite: A material that can be crafted into reappearing and vanishing blocks—the same blocks you encountered while climbing the tower

Fiery Tears: The same valuable drops that the Hydra boss provides

Summary

The Urghast is a formidable challenge that requires both puzzle-solving skills to navigate its tower and combat prowess to defeat the boss itself. With proper preparation, a strong bow, and careful strategy during the fight, you can claim victory over this dark forest guardian and collect its valuable rewards. Once defeated, you can finally leave the dark forest and move on to other challenges in The Twilight Forest mod.
