How to Craft Leather in Beyond Depth

Getting leather in the Beyond Depth modpack isn’t as straightforward as vanilla Minecraft. Thanks to the integration of Farmer’s Delight, you’ll need to follow a specific process involving a cow carcass, cow hide, and a special crafting station called the Leather Tanner. This guide walks you through every step so you can get leather quickly and efficiently.

Step 1 – Find and Kill a Cow

Your first task is simple: find a cow out in the world. Once you’ve located one, kill it — you can use any weapon you like for this part. The kill method doesn’t need to be with a knife.

Step 2 – Use a Farmer’s Delight Knife

Before you kill the cow, make sure you have a Farmer’s Delight knife in your inventory. You can identify the correct knife by checking the item tooltip — it must display Farmer’s Delight written in blue text at the bottom. Any other knife will not work for the next steps.

Step 3 – Collect the Cow Carcass

Once the cow is dead, it will leave behind a Cow Carcass. You may accidentally pick it up as an item — if this happens, simply right-click to place the cow carcass back down on the ground.

Step 4 – Butcher the Carcass with Your Knife

With your Farmer’s Delight knife equipped, right-click repeatedly on the cow carcass. As you hack away at it, you will see Cow Hide drop onto the ground. Pick up the cow hide before moving on.

Step 5 – Use the Leather Tanner

Next, you will need a crafting station called the Leather Tanner. Once you have one placed, right-click your Cow Hide onto the Leather Tanner to load it in.

Processing the Hide into Leather

After loading the cow hide, equip a pair of shears and right-click repeatedly on the Leather Tanner. After several clicks, pieces of leather will fly off the station and drop onto the ground for you to collect.
