How to Become a Vampire or Hunter in Vampirism

How to Become a Vampire or Hunter in Vampirism Mod

The Vampirism mod for Minecraft offers players two distinct playstyles: become a powerful vampire or join the ranks of vampire hunters. This guide walks you through both paths, explaining the steps needed to start your journey as either a hunter or the undead. Whether you prefer to hunt the night or embrace it, you’ll find everything you need to know here.

Becoming a Vampire Hunter

Finding the Vampire Hunter Trainer

To become a vampire hunter, you’ll need to locate a village owned by vampire hunters. Look for a house containing a vampire hunter trainer. This NPC is your gateway to the hunter profession.

Gathering Hunter Materials

Inside the vampire hunter’s house, you’ll find several useful items:

Vampire blood

Holy water

Hunter clothes

Garlic

You’ll also find garlic growing outside the house. Collect this garlic as you’ll need it for the next step.

Crafting the Garlic Injection

Create a garlic injection by combining a syringe with garlic. Once crafted, proceed to the injection chair.

Using the Injection Chair

Use the garlic injection on the injection chair. This action will give you Toxicant II, transforming you into a Level 1 Vampire Hunter.

Understanding Your Hunter Skills

After becoming a hunter, open your inventory to access your skill screen. As a Level 1 Vampire Hunter, you’ll gain access to various skills, including:

Stake Usage: Instantly kill vampires with below 35% health using a stake

Weapon Table: Learn to use and craft hunter weapons

Many additional skills available in the skill tree

Becoming a Vampire

Getting Infected with Sanguine Vampirus

The first step to becoming a vampire is straightforward: encounter vampires in the world and allow them to infect you. When vampires attack you, they may infect you with the Sanguine Vampirus effect.

Recognizing the Infection

You’ll know you’ve been infected because you’ll receive the Sanguine Vampirus status effect on your character. This effect lasts approximately 8 to 11 minutes. Once the timer expires, you will officially become a vampire.

Curing the Infection (Optional)

If you change your mind during the infection period, you have two options to cure yourself:

Drink milk

Find a vampire hunter at one of the hunter tents scattered around the world and speak to them for a cure

Hunter tents are distinctive structures found throughout the world. The vampire hunters inside will cure you of Sanguine Vampirus if you talk to them before the timer runs out.

After Becoming a Vampire

Once the Sanguine Vampirus timer expires and you officially become a vampire, hunter NPCs will no longer cure you—they will instead hunt you down.

Alternative: Using Vampire Fangs

If vampires don’t infect you when you kill them, they may drop vampire fangs. Simply right-click a fang to use it. This will poison you slightly and infect you with Sanguine Vampirus, allowing you to become a vampire through an alternative method.

Your New Vampire Form

Once you officially become a vampire, several changes occur:

Your hunger bar transforms into a blood bar

Your saturation bar adjusts accordingly

A purple Level 1 indicator appears above your XP bar, showing your vampire level

Your character’s eyes change in-game

You gain access to a vampire UI in your inventory

A skill screen becomes available as you level up your vampire abilities

Reversing Vampire Status

If you become a vampire but later want to return to human form, you can find an Altar of Cleansing in a village church. Using this altar will cleanse you of your vampire status permanently.

Summary

The Vampirism mod provides two exciting playstyles for Minecraft players. Becoming a vampire hunter requires finding a trainer, crafting a garlic injection, and using it at an injection chair. Becoming a vampire is simpler—just allow infected vampires to spread the Sanguine Vampirus to you and wait for the timer to expire. Each path offers unique skills and gameplay mechanics, so choose the one that best fits your playstyle. Both hunters and vampires have extensive skill trees to develop as you progress through the mod.
