O.F Device – Ore Farming Device Mod Tutorial
OF Device Mod Tutorial: Automate Ore Farming in Modded Minecraft
The OF Device mod — short for Ore Farming Device — is a fantastic utility mod that lets you passively generate ores in Minecraft without ever swinging a pickaxe. Whether you need iron, coal, redstone, emeralds, or even ancient debris, this mod has a tier to match your needs. This tutorial will walk you through every device in the mod, how to set them up, what inputs they need, and what outputs you can expect.
What Is the OF Device Mod?
The OF Device mod adds a small family of machines designed to filter cobblestone (or other stone variants) and produce ores passively over time. Leave one running for even 10–20 minutes and you’ll start accumulating iron, copper, coal, redstone, and more — all without any mining required.
The mod adds the following key items:
OF Device — the base-tier ore farming machine
OF Device Mod 1 — the iron-tier upgrade
OF Device Mod 2 — the diamond-tier upgrade
OFC Device — a passive cobblestone generator
OFC Feeder 1 — an auto-feed upgrade for the OF Device
OFC Feeder 2 — a diamond-tier upgrade to the OFC Feeder
How to Use the OF Device
Using the base OF Device is straightforward. Place the machine down, insert coal as fuel, and load cobblestone into the top input slot. The machine will consume the cobblestone, filter through it, and occasionally produce ores. It won’t always yield something valuable — sometimes you’ll simply get lava stone — but over time the output adds up.

Upgrading Your OF Device
You can upgrade the base OF Device to unlock better ore outputs as your game progresses.
OF Device Mod 1 (Iron Tier)
Craft or upgrade to the OF Device Mod 1 using an iron pickaxe. This tier unlocks access to redstone output, which is not available from the base machine.
OF Device Mod 2 (Diamond Tier)
Upgrade the Mod 1 device further using a diamond pickaxe to create the OF Device Mod 2. This is the highest tier and provides access to the widest range of ore outputs, including emeralds.

Ore Output by Device Tier
The outputs you receive depend on both the tier of your machine and the type of stone you feed into it. Here is a breakdown of what each combination can produce:
Cobblestone Input
OF Device (Base): Stone, coal, iron, and other common ores
OF Device Mod 1 (Iron): Everything above, plus redstone
OF Device Mod 2 (Diamond): Everything above, plus emeralds
Note: Diamond can only be obtained using the OF Device Mod 1 (iron tier), not the base machine.

Cobbled Deep Slate Input
Swapping cobblestone for cobbled deep slate changes the output pool entirely. You’ll gain access to deep slate ore variants that are not available through regular cobblestone.

Netherrack Input
Feeding your machine netherrack opens up Nether-specific outputs — most notably the ability to obtain ancient debris, making this one of the most powerful input options in the mod.

The OFC Device: Passive Cobblestone Generator
The OFC Device is a separate machine that generates cobblestone passively, requiring no player input beyond fueling it with coal or blocks of coal. On its own it is a convenient resource generator, but its real power comes when you pair it with the OF Device.
By connecting an OFC Device to an OF Device Mod 2 — for example, routing the cobblestone output via hoppers — you can create a fully automated ore farm that runs indefinitely with only a coal supply needed.

Using Hoppers for Automated Output Collection
All OF Device machines support hopper connections underneath them. Simply place a hopper below any OF Device variant to automatically collect ore outputs into a chest or other storage system. This is the recommended setup for any hands-free ore farming operation.

OFC Feeder: Skip the Cobblestone Input Slot
If you’d rather not manually fill your OF Device with cobblestone, the mod offers the OFC Feeder items as an alternative input method.
OFC Feeder 1
Place the OFC Feeder 1 into your OF Device in place of cobblestone. The machine will use the feeder to passively supply itself. Be aware that using the OFC Feeder consumes double the fuel compared to using cobblestone directly, so keep your coal supply stocked.

OFC Feeder 2
Upgrade the OFC Feeder 1 with a diamond pickaxe to craft the OFC Feeder 2. This upgraded feeder unlocks the higher-tier output pool — equivalent to what you’d get from the OF Device Mod 2 — and similarly uses more fuel than the standard feeder. Use it when you want top-tier ore outputs without managing a cobblestone input.

Summary: OF Device Mod Quick Reference
Here’s a quick recap of everything the OF Device mod offers:
OF Device — basic ore farm; fuel with coal, input cobblestone
OF Device Mod 1 — iron tier upgrade; adds redstone and diamond outputs
OF Device Mod 2 — diamond tier upgrade; adds emerald outputs
OFC Device — passive cobblestone generator; fuel with coal or coal blocks
OFC Feeder 1 — replaces cobblestone input; uses 2× fuel
OFC Feeder 2 — diamond-tier feeder upgrade; higher outputs, higher fuel cost
Use hoppers underneath any OF Device to automate output collection
Use cobbled deep slate for deep slate ores, netherrack for ancient debris
The OF Device mod is an excellent pick for any modded Minecraft playthrough where you want a low-maintenance, scalable ore supply without heavy tech infrastructure. Start with the base OF Device, upgrade through the iron and diamond tiers as your resources grow, and pair it with the OFC Device for a fully automated setup. Happy farming!
