How to Make Basic Electronic Circuits in Gregtech CEu Modern
Once you’ve progressed through the steam age with your coal, coke, and steel production, there’s one critical component standing between you and the Low Voltage (LV) era: the basic electronic circuit. This component is your gateway out of the steam age and into electricity-powered automation. In this guide, we’ll walk through every step needed to craft basic electronic circuits in Gregtech CEu Modern.
Understanding the Basic Electronic Circuit
The basic electronic circuit is the fundamental building block that unlocks Low Voltage technology and allows you to transition away from steam-powered machines. Without it, you’re stuck in the steam age forever. Let’s break down everything you need to know to craft one.
Core Components You’ll Need
1. Resin Printed Circuit Boards
Resin printed circuit boards are made from two ingredients: resin circuit boards and copper wire. These form the base of your electronic circuit.
2. Copper Wire and Other Wires
Copper wire (along with tin wire and other variants) is created using a wire cutter. You can craft an iron wire cutter using basic tools, and then simply cut metal plates into wires.
3. Resin Circuit Boards
Resin circuit boards are crafted using sticky resin and wood planks. Wood planks are produced in your low pressure steam compressor from wood pulp. Wood pulp comes from the massorator, where you process logs into pulp, then compress that pulp into planks in your compressor.
How to Obtain Sticky Resin
While you could theoretically smelt slime balls to get sticky resin, you likely don’t have a massive stockpile. Instead, you’ll want to find rubber log trees, which spawn in taiga biomes. These trees are relatively rare—approximately 20% spawn chance—but they’re your best resource for resin.
To harvest rubber trees, simply equip an axe and chop them down. You’ll receive rubber logs, and approximately 70% of the time, you’ll also get a piece of sticky resin. This is how you’ll efficiently gather the resin needed for your circuit boards.
Vacuum Tubes
Vacuum tubes require glass dust and a casting mould, processed in a low pressure steam alloy smelter. To create glass dust, simply smash regular glass with a hammer.
Understanding Casting Moulds
Casting moulds are created from steel plates using an empty mould as your base. You can then use a hammer to carve different shapes into the mould. The location where you strike the mould in the carving grid determines which type of mould you create. There are many different moulds available, so experiment to find the ones you need.
Resistors
Resistors require sticky resin paper and carbon dust. Carbon dust can be obtained from the massorator by processing graphite ore or deepslate graphite ore. You’ll get approximately a 14% chance of carbon dust from these ores. You’ll need to locate ore veins for this material.
Copper Wire
Copper wire is straightforward to produce following the wire creation method already described.
Red Alloy Cables
Red alloy cables are made from red alloy wire wrapped with rubber sheets. Red alloy wire is created from red alloy ingots, which are produced in an alloy smelter using four redstone dust and one copper dust (or you can substitute copper ingots). Once you have red alloy ingots, convert them to plates and then to wire using a wire cutter. Finally, combine the red alloy wire with rubber sheets to create red alloy cables.
Creating Rubber Sheets
Rubber sheets are made from rubber ingots using a casting mould. Rubber ingots are produced in an alloy smelter by combining raw rubber pulp and sulphur dust. Raw rubber pulp is made in a steam extractor using your sticky resin. Sulphur dust comes from ore veins (typically found in deepslate, though availability may depend on your modpack configuration).
Assembling Your Basic Electronic Circuits
Once you’ve gathered all the components listed above—resin printed circuit boards, copper wire, vacuum tubes, resistors, and red alloy cables—you can combine them to create basic electronic circuits.

Pro Tips for Mass Production
One critical piece of advice: basic electronic circuits are resource-intensive to craft, and you’ll need many of them. The engraving process for the individual components is particularly demanding. Rather than crafting items one or two at a time, batch your production. Craft a full stack (or at least half a stack) of resistors, a stack of vacuum tubes, and several stacks of red alloy cables all at once. Bulk crafting will save you enormous amounts of time and frustration. If you try to make small quantities repeatedly, you’ll quickly tire of the process.
Moving Into Low Voltage
