Hunter Full Tutorial – Vampirism Mod
If you’re playing the Vampirism mod and want to become a vampire hunter instead of a vampire, this comprehensive guide will walk you through every step. From becoming a level 1 hunter all the way to becoming a Lord, we’ll cover the skills, resources, and quests you need to master this faction.
Becoming a Vampire Hunter – The Basics
To start your journey as a vampire hunter, you need to find a village owned by vampire hunters. Look for a house with a vampire hunter trainer inside. This NPC is your gateway to becoming a hunter.
Inside the trainer’s house, you’ll find useful items like vampire blood, holy water, hunter clothes, and garlic. You can also find garlic growing outside the house.
Your first task is to craft a garlic injection using a syringe and garlic. Once you’ve made this injection, go to the injection chair and use the garlic injection on it. This will give you the toxicant effect and officially turn you into a level 1 vampire hunter.

Your First Skill Points
Now that you’re a level 1 hunter, check your inventory to see your new skill screen. You’ll gain access to several hunter abilities:
How to use a stake – This allows you to instantly kill any vampire that has below 35% health if you use a stake
Learn how to use the weapon table – Access to the weapon crafting system
Many other skills available in the skill tree
Leveling Up from Level 1 to Level 4
Leveling from level 1 to level 4 is straightforward and combat-focused. Here’s the process:
Hunting Vampires with Stakes
Your main task is simple: find vampires and kill them with a stake. Note that only the final hit with the stake counts toward your progression. When you kill a vampire with a stake, they will drop vampire blood (sometimes they drop vampire souls, but blood is what you need).

Training at Hunter Camps
Once you have vampire blood, seek out a hunter camp. These are located all over the world and are identifiable by their white tents with vampire hunters nearby. To level up:
Right-click on a normal vampire hunter
The NPC will request vampire blood bottles to train you
Level 1 to 2: Pay 1 vampire blood bottle
Level 2 to 3: Pay 5 vampire blood bottles
Level 3 to 4: Pay 12 vampire blood bottles
After level 4, the trainer will tell you to find someone with more experience

Leveling Up from Level 5 to Level 14
Progressing beyond level 4 requires a different approach using the hunter research table. For higher levels, you’ll need to upgrade this table by placing blocks next to it.
Upgrading the Hunter Research Table
The hunter research table can be enhanced with three types of upgrades:
Alchemical cauldron – Identifiable by the garlic symbol
Potion table – Identifiable by the potion symbol
Weapon table – Features a hammer symbol underneath

Creating Hunter Intel
The hunter research table requires four items to create hunter intel (needed for levels up to 5):
Books – Found in dungeons, pyramids, and strongholds. Can also be obtained from named vampires
Vampire fangs – Drop from regular vampires
Pure blood – Drops from vampire barons in the vampire biome
Vampire blood – Your standard hunting drops
Finding the Vampire Biome
The vampire biome is a dark, misty biome where vampire barons spawn at both day and night. The purity level you receive depends on the baron’s level:
Level 1 vampire baron = Purity 1
Level 2 vampire baron = Purity 2
Level 5 vampire baron = Purity 5
Tip: Consider installing the Nature’s Compass mod, which lets you search for and locate biomes easily, including the vampire biome.

Leveling with the Vampire Hunter Trainer
Once you’ve created your hunter intel at the research table, return to the original vampire hunter trainer. To level up from level 4 to level 5, you’ll need:
5 iron ingots
1 hunter intel (up to level 5)
Insert these items and press level up. For levels 6 through 14, repeat this process but you’ll need progressively more vampire fangs, higher purity levels, and more vampire blood from blood barons.

Becoming a Hunter Lord – Level 14+
Once you reach level 14, you need to become a lord to progress further. This involves taking control of villages through raids.
Village Control and Raids
Villages in the Vampirism mod can be controlled by either vampires, hunters, or remain neutral. To take control of a village:
Find a neutral totem or vampire totem in the village center
Right-click the totem to start a raid
Help the hunters by killing all vampires in the village
Once you’ve eliminated all opposing faction members, the village becomes a hunter village

You may find villages that are already hunter-controlled, which means you don’t need to raid them. Named vampires killed during raids also drop books, providing an alternative source to dungeons and strongholds.

Completing Lord Quests
Once you control a hunter village and are level 14, find the village hunter representative. This NPC appears only in villages controlled by hunters. Talk to them to receive quests that will progress you through the Lord ranks.
To become a hunter lord, complete the “Are you worthy?” quest, which requires:
Win or defend against 3 raids
Kill 50 vampires
Give 32 gold ingots

Lord Progression Ranks
As you level up through the Lord ranks, you’ll progress through the following titles by completing additional quests from the village representative:
Lieutenant
Captain
Major
Colonel
Brigadier
Each rank requires similar tasks: kill additional vampires and provide resources. These quests take you all the way through Lord level 5.
Cheat Command: If you want to skip the quest progression, use the command: /vampirism lord -level 5

Hunter Minions – Recruiting and Upgrading
One of the most rewarding aspects of becoming a Lord is the ability to recruit and customize hunter minions.
Recruiting Your First Minion
As you progress through Lord quests, the village representative will eventually offer hunter minion equipment. To recruit a minion:
Find a regular vampire hunter (not the representative)
Right-click the minion equipment onto them
They will transform into your personal minion

Minion Commands and Customization
Once you have a minion, right-click on them to access commands:
Stay here – Keep the minion in one location
Follow me – Have the minion follow you
Defend the area – Set the minion to guard a region
Add inventory slots – Expand minion storage capacity
Change appearance – Customize how your minion looks
Give minion gear – Equip your minion with hunter equipment

Upgrading Minion Gear
You can upgrade your minion’s equipment and skills using hunter minion equipment upgrades, which come from the village representative’s quests. Additionally, you’ll have a dedicated minion skill tree in your skill screen that allows you to unlock additional abilities and improvements for your minion.

Summary
You’ve now learned the complete path to becoming a hunter in the Vampirism mod, from your first injection as a level 1 hunter all the way to becoming a Lord with your own minions. The progression combines combat (hunting vampires), resource gathering (pure blood, fangs, books), and strategy (raiding villages, completing quests). With patience and dedication, you can build a powerful hunter faction presence in your world.
