How To Make A Runic Matrix In Thaumcraft 6

Arcane Stone is straightforward to craft. Simply place a regular Stone block in your crafting grid with a Vis Crystal in the middle. You’ll need several of these, so craft a good batch before moving on.

Crafting the Runic Matrix

The Runic Matrix is crafted inside the Arcane Workbench. It requires 150 Vis, Arcane Stone Bricks arranged around the grid, and a Nitor placed in the centre slot.

Crafting the Pedestal

The Pedestal is also made in the Arcane Workbench. Use Arcane Stone Slabs and a regular Stone block placed in the centre of the crafting grid.

Building the Runic Matrix Structure

Laying the Foundation

Start by placing your Arcane Stones in an alternating pattern — 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2 — to form the base of your structure. Next, place a Pedestal in the very centre of the pattern, and then place the Runic Matrix on top of the Pedestal.

Activating the Matrix

Once your structure is built, you need to activate it using Salis Mundus. Simply right-click the structure with the Salis Mundus and the Runic Matrix will activate, transforming into a fully functional Infusion Matrix.

Adding Pedestals Around the Matrix

With your Infusion Matrix active, place five additional Pedestals around it — one on each side and in the surrounding positions. These pedestals are where you will place your crafting ingredients during infusion recipes.

Stabilizing the Infusion Matrix

When crafting more complex or powerful items, you may encounter instabilities during the infusion process. To reduce instability, place candles, Zombie Heads, Skeleton Heads, or similar decorative blocks around the matrix. You can confirm whether an item acts as an Infusion Stabilizer by hovering over it — if it is a valid stabilizer, the tooltip will say “Infusion Stabilizer” clearly in the item description.
