How to Get Neptunium in Society Sunlit Valley
Neptunium ingots are one of the first critical resources you’ll need to progress in the Society Sunlit Valley modpack. This guide walks you through the complete process of obtaining Neptunium ingots, from fishing for rare materials to setting up automated farms that will generate resources passively each day.
Step 1: Get a Fishing Rod and Find River Jelly
The first step in your Neptunium journey is to craft or obtain a fishing rod. Head to any river biome in your world and begin fishing. Your goal is to catch river jelly, which can be found exclusively in river biomes. This is an essential component for the next phase of progression.

Step 2: Purchase a Fish Pond from the Fishing Trader
Once you’ve obtained river jelly, locate the fishing trader and purchase a fish pond from them. This structure will become your primary tool for passively generating Neptunium resources over time.

Step 3: Fish for Epitunia in the Ocean
Travel to an ocean biome and begin fishing for Epitunia. This is a fairly rare fish, so expect to catch 30-40 fish before landing one. If you already have a talent or skill that allows Epitunia to be caught anywhere, you can skip the ocean and fish in any biome.

Step 4: Convert Epitunia into Neptunium Nuggets
Once you have an Epitunia, take it to a cutting board (from Farmer’s Delight mod) and cut it. This will yield three Neptunium nuggets per Epitunia. While three nuggets might seem like a small return for the effort, the fish pond system will multiply your gains exponentially.

Step 5: Set Up Your Fish Pond
Your fish pond requires a specific setup to function. Behind the fish pond, you must have a 3×4 area of water. Without this water area, the pond will not work. Once properly set up, right-click your Epitunia into the fish pond to begin the process.

The fish pond works on a daily cycle. Each day it progresses: zero out of three → one out of three → two out of three → three out of three. When it reaches three out of three, shift right-click to harvest the fish. This will give you additional Epitunia, which you can convert back into Neptunium nuggets using the cutting board.

Speed Up Production: Create a Bait Maker
If the fish pond feels slow, you can accelerate your Neptunium production. Once you have two Neptunium ingots, craft a bait maker. This device will convert one Neptunium into three Neptunium baits in a single day cycle.

Using the Bait Maker
Right-click a Neptunium ingot into the bait maker. It will show progress as “zero out of one.” After sleeping and advancing one day, return to find it has converted into three Neptunium baits. This is a 1:3 conversion ratio that happens daily.

Step 6: Set Up Crab Traps for Passive Generation
Another passive method to generate Neptunium is through crab traps. First, create crab trap bait by placing one worm (purchased from the fisherman) into a crafting grid. This produces crab trap bait.

Place your crab trap bait into a crab trap, along with the Neptunium bait you created from your bait maker. The crab trap guarantees one Neptunium per catch and may also yield shells and other items. Using Neptunium bait in crab traps ensures you get Neptunium rather than other fish species.

Optimized Farming Strategy
For maximum efficiency, combine both methods:
Use your fish pond to generate one Epitunia per day (yielding three Neptunium nuggets when cut)
Convert two Neptunium ingots into Neptunium bait using your bait maker
Use the Neptunium bait in crab traps to guarantee additional Neptunium catches the same day
This dual approach means you can turn one Neptunium into three Neptunium using baits and crab traps, while simultaneously gaining three more nuggets daily from your fish pond expansion.

Fish Pond Upgrades
Fish ponds can be upgraded to hold more than three fish at once. Check your pond for upgrade options when right-clicking it. Upgrading allows you to store more Epitunia in a single pond, increasing daily yields without needing multiple structures.

Summary
Getting started with Neptunium in Society Sunlit Valley requires patience at first, but the system quickly becomes self-sustaining. Begin by fishing for Epitunia in the ocean, convert it to nuggets on a cutting board, and establish a fish pond with proper water setup. Once you have your first two ingots, create a bait maker and set up crab traps to exponentially increase your daily Neptunium production. This combination of fish ponds, bait makers, and crab traps will provide all the Neptunium you need to progress through the modpack.
