Crystal Cell Tutorial – Embers Rekindled
Crystal Cell Tutorial – Embers Rekindled
Once you start generating serious amounts of power in Embers Rekindled — for example, using the Pressure Refinery — you’re going to need somewhere to put it all. That’s where the Crystal Cell comes in. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how the Crystal Cell works, how to massively increase its storage capacity using Ember Crystals, and how to automate Ember input using an Ember Ejector and Ember Funnel.
What Is the Crystal Cell?
The Crystal Cell is a compact energy storage block in Embers Rekindled. In its base form, it’s quite small. To check its current capacity, place an Ember Dial on the cell — by default, a base Crystal Cell can store 64,000 Ember.

Think of it as the big upgrade over the Copper Cell — capable of storing a significantly larger amount of Ember once fully upgraded.
Increasing the Crystal Cell’s Capacity
Adding a Mechanical Core
To begin upgrading the Crystal Cell’s storage capacity, locate the hole in the bottom of the block. Insert a Mechanical Core into this slot. This prepares the cell to accept Ember Crystals as capacity upgrades.

Inserting Ember Crystals via Hopper
Once the Mechanical Core is installed, place a Hopper feeding into the Crystal Cell and load it with Ember Crystals. As the crystals are consumed, you’ll visually see the crystal on top of the cell growing larger. Attach an Ember Dial to watch the maximum storage capacity climb dramatically with each crystal added.

Keep in mind — inserting Ember Crystals only increases the storage capacity. It does not fill the cell with Ember. You will need to supply Ember separately.
Filling the Crystal Cell with Ember
Basic Input: Ember Receptor
The simplest way to fill your Crystal Cell is to attach an Ember Receptor directly to the cell. This allows it to passively receive Ember from a nearby source.

Advanced Input: Ember Ejector and Ember Funnel
For faster and more controlled Ember transfer, use a combination of an Ember Ejector and an Ember Funnel. Here’s how to set it up:
Attach an Ember Ejector to your Ember source (such as a Creative Ember Source for testing).
Attach an Ember Funnel to your Crystal Cell.
Place a Lever on the Ember Ejector and flip it to activate the transfer.
Right-click to connect the Ember Ejector to the Ember Funnel.

Once active, you’ll see the Ember count inside the Crystal Cell rising by hundreds at a time, rapidly filling up the cell’s massive storage capacity.

Summary
The Crystal Cell is one of the best energy storage options available in Embers Rekindled. Starting at 64,000 Ember base capacity, it can be dramatically expanded by feeding it Ember Crystals via a Hopper and Mechanical Core. Pair it with an Ember Ejector and Ember Funnel setup to automate filling, and you’ll have a powerful, scalable energy storage solution ready to support even the most demanding Ember-powered builds.
