Beyond Depth: Easy & Fast XP Farm Guide

Want to rack up XP levels at an insane speed in the Beyond Depth Mod Pack? This guide walks you through a simple, passive, and fully scalable XP farm using bookshelves, the Experience Obelisk, and a few items from the Cognition mod. With just a basic setup, you can earn dozens of levels in just a few minutes — completely hands-free.

What You Need

Before you get started, gather the following items:

Experience Obelisk — this is where all your XP will be stored

Bookshelves — the source of the XP generation

Bibliophage — a Cognition mod item used to infect bookshelves

Fluorescent Agar — a Cognition mod block that can be upgraded to boost XP output

Setting Up the Experience Obelisk

Start by placing down your Experience Obelisk. This block acts as your XP bank — it collects and stores experience points generated by your setup. Open its settings and set the collection radius to 5 so that it gathers XP from all nearby sources effectively.

To retrieve your stored XP, simply interact with the obelisk and select your retrieval option. You do not have to take it all out at once — you can retrieve only what you need.

Infecting Bookshelves with the Bibliophage

Place your bookshelves around the Experience Obelisk. Craft a Bibliophage using the in-game recipe (refer to the Cognition mod guide for full crafting details), then right-click it onto one bookshelf to infect it. The infection will spread automatically to neighbouring bookshelves over time — you only need to infect one to get the chain started.

Once infected, the bookshelves begin passively dropping XP, which flows directly into the Experience Obelisk. As more bookshelves become infected, the XP generation rate increases continuously.

Upgrading with Agars

Creating a Fluorescent Agar

To significantly boost your XP output, you will want to use Agars. Start by crafting a Fluorescent Agar, then infect it with the Bibliophage multiple times in succession to upgrade it through the following tiers:

Fluorescent Agar → infect repeatedly →

Nutrient Agar → upgrade via Molecular Metamorphop →

Insightful Agar → upgrade again →

Extravagant Agar ✅ (target tier)

Placing the Extravagant Agar

The Extravagant Agar is your goal — it increases the XP value of all surrounding blocks. Place it among your bookshelves and it will also act as an infectious block, spreading its effect to nearby bookshelves automatically. This dramatically multiplies the amount of XP being fed into your obelisk.

Boosting Further with Enchanted Bookshelves

For even greater XP yields, replace your standard bookshelves with enchanted bookshelves. Simply combine any enchanted books with bookshelves to create them. Enchanted bookshelves are worth double the experience bonus when used in this setup. Pair this with a mob farm to generate a constant supply of enchanted books, and your XP income becomes enormous.

Scaling Up Your Farm

The setup shown in this guide is intentionally small and minimal — but the beauty of this farm is how easily it scales. Add more bookshelves, place additional Extravagant Agars, and let the infection spread across a larger area. The Experience Obelisk will collect everything within its radius. In just three and a half minutes of a small test setup, the obelisk accumulated 32 levels — completely passively.

Remember to keep your obelisk’s collection radius set to 5 in its settings to ensure maximum XP pickup range.
