How to Get Replica in Mahou Tsukai

This guide walks you through every step needed to craft and activate your own Replica shield, from gathering the necessary scrolls to successfully blocking an attack with the proper buffs active.

Overview of Required Scrolls

To create a Replica shield, you’ll need to craft four different scrolls using spellcloth and a dagger. Place down your spellcloth, use the dagger on it, and then add the catalyst items on top. Here are the scrolls you need:

Scroll of Strengthening

The first scroll you’ll craft is the Scroll of Strengthening. This requires one iron and two diamonds as catalysts. This scroll is essential for making your vanilla shield unbreakable and strengthened.

Scroll of Mystic Eyes of Death Collection

This scroll drains 400 mana from the caster on use. The catalysts needed are two powdered eyes and one powdered iron. This scroll is crucial for collecting souls from mobs, which you’ll need for the final step.

Scroll of Damage Exchange

The Scroll of Damage Exchange drains 40 mana on use and converts damage taken into mana. The catalysts required are one powdered iron and two powdered emeralds. This scroll helps make you invincible during the process.

Scroll of Immunity Exchange

The final scroll you need is the Scroll of Immunity Exchange, which drains 400 mana from the caster on use. This requires two powdered emeralds and one powdered eye as catalysts. This scroll provides the immunity buff needed to block attacks safely.

Mana Management Tips

Since several of these scrolls require 400 mana to cast, you may not have enough mana capacity yet. A helpful tip is to use tuned diamonds or tuned emeralds. These items can be filled with mana and the scrolls will draw from them before tapping into your personal mana pool, allowing you to cast spells you couldn’t otherwise afford.

Preparing Your Equipment

Create a Vanilla Shield

Craft a basic vanilla Minecraft shield. You’ll be applying the Scroll of Strengthening to this shield to make it unbreakable and strengthened, transforming it into a Replica shield.

Armor Requirements

You need solid armor protection to make this process work. A golden apple (enchanted or regular) is required. You should also equip protective armor—never-right armor (iron or diamond quality) works best. Testing has shown that without proper armor and a golden apple, the process fails. You need to be extremely invincible to successfully create the Replica.

Shield Placement

First, place your vanilla shield in your offhand slot. You’ll use the Scroll of Strengthening while the shield is there, which will make it unbreakable and strengthened.

The Strengthening Process

Use your Scroll of Strengthening while your shield is in your offhand. Pull back the scroll and release it to activate. Your shield will now display “unbreakable strengthened” in its tooltip. Once strengthened, remove it from your offhand and place it in your main hand toolbar.

Collecting Souls with Death Collection Eyes

Now use your Scroll of Mystic Eyes of Death Collection. This buff lasts for 28 seconds and allows you to collect souls from mobs you kill. You’ll see red text appear saying “def collected” each time you kill something. Your soul counter is displayed in the top left of your screen.

You need to collect souls until the counter reaches 5.0 (the maximum). Kill mobs repeatedly during the buff duration. If the buff expires before you reach 5.0 souls, don’t worry—you won’t lose your collected souls. Simply use another Scroll of Mystic Eyes of Death Collection to extend the buff and continue collecting.

Mana Regeneration During Soul Collection

While using the Death Collection Eyes buff, you’ll notice your mana regeneration decreases (indicated by “minus 25 regen” in your status). Make sure you have a way to generate mana during this phase, either through passive regeneration or active mana sources.

Activating the Final Buffs

Damage Exchange Activation

Once you’ve collected 5.0 souls, you’re ready for the final steps. First, use your Scroll of Damage Exchange near a mob. You’ll see a buff appear on your screen labeled “damage exchange five” in the top left corner.

Immunity Exchange Activation

Immediately after, use your Scroll of Immunity Exchange. This will grant you an immunity buff lasting about one minute. This is the critical buff that makes you invincible for the shield blocking attempt.

Golden Apple Consumption

Consume your golden apple (enchanted golden apple works too). This further increases your resistance and survivability.

Creating the Replica Shield

Now comes the crucial moment. Get your strengthened shield ready and equip it in your main hand. Right-click to enter shield blocking mode. With a mob nearby, let the mob attack you while you’re blocking with the shield. The damage will be blocked by your immunity buffs and damage exchange scroll, and the shield will transform into a Replica.

Troubleshooting Failed Attempts

If the Replica creation fails and you see the message “if you’re trying to make a replica you forgot to strengthen your shield,” it means your strengthened buff has worn off. Simply use another Scroll of Strengthening to re-apply the unbreakable strengthened status to your shield.

After re-strengthening, reactivate all your buffs: use the Scroll of Damage Exchange, use the Scroll of Immunity Exchange, eat your golden apple, and then attempt to block an attack again.

Alternative Attack Methods

If a zombie isn’t working because you’ve become immune to mob damage, try alternative attack sources:

Skeletons: Have a skeleton shoot arrows at you while blocking

Melee Attacks: If you’re immune to ranged damage, have a mob with melee attacks hit you instead

Different damage types may bypass certain immunity protections, so testing with various mob types can help if initial attempts fail.
