How to Get Caliburn in Mahou Tsukai

Caliburn and Morgan are the best weapons available in the Mahou Tsukai mod. This guide will walk you through the complete process of obtaining and upgrading Caliburn to its maximum potential. Follow these steps carefully, as upgrading is a one-time-only process and requires significant preparation.

Creating the Ritual Lake

The first step to obtaining Caliburn is creating a large ritual lake in your world. This is crucial—do not attempt this near your base, as the lake will be quite substantial and creates heavy fog effects in the surrounding area.

To create the lake, gather a dagger and prepare a blood circle with the following materials:

2 Diamonds

1 Emerald

Once you’ve placed these items in the blood circle and completed the ritual, you’ll see the fog begin to appear and the lake will expand. The fog is localized near the water level—if you jump up high enough, you can see the full extent of the massive lake created by this ritual.

Gathering 5,000 Mahu

Before proceeding, you’ll need to accumulate 5,000 Mahu. The most efficient way to store Mahu is by using attuned diamonds and attuned emeralds:

Attuned Emeralds: Store 1,000 Mahu each

Attuned Diamonds: Store 2,000 Mahu each

Simply right-click with these attuned items to deposit your stored Mahu and accumulate the required 5,000.

Obtaining Caliburn from the Lake

With your ritual lake prepared, the next step is to create an enchanted diamond sword. Use an anvil to enchant a diamond sword with Smite—the higher the Smite level, the better your results will be.

Once your Smite-enchanted diamond sword is ready, throw it into the ritual lake. Be careful not to stay in the water yourself, as the lake can be dangerous. After a moment, Caliburn will appear in the lake. Simply pick it up to claim your prize.

Caliburn Stats

Your newly acquired Caliburn has the following baseline stats:

Attack Damage: 16

Attack Speed: 1.6

Innate Cap: 40

The innate cap represents the maximum level to which this weapon can be upgraded. This is not the upgrade mechanism itself, but rather the ceiling for upgrades.

First Upgrade: Using Nether Stars

To perform the first upgrade on Caliburn, enchant it again with Smite at an anvil (the higher the level, the better). Then, prepare a stack of Nether Stars—up to 16 is the maximum you can use in a single upgrade.

Throw both the enchanted Caliburn and your Nether Stars into the ritual lake simultaneously. This will consume approximately 4,000 Mahu and increase your sword’s attack damage. The innate cap will now increase to 60, and you can see the attack damage rise accordingly.

Second Upgrade: Maximum Enhancement

After retrieving your upgraded Caliburn from the lake, you can perform one final upgrade. Enchant it with Smite once more and throw it back into the lake alone (without Nether Stars this time).

This final upgrade will consume another 5,000-6,000 Mahu and push your Caliburn to maximum effectiveness, bringing the attack damage up to 34 and reaching the innate cap of 60.

Important Upgrade Limitations

Critical: You can only upgrade Caliburn once. Plan your upgrades carefully and ensure you’re using the highest quality Smite enchantments available before committing. If you make a mistake, you’ll need to create an entirely new Caliburn from scratch.

When using Nether Stars for the first upgrade, throw them in as a complete stack (up to 60) all at once. You have only one opportunity to perform this upgrade.

Total Resource Requirements

To complete the entire process of obtaining and maximizing Caliburn, you’ll need approximately:

10,000+ Attuned Diamonds/Emeralds (for storing the required Mahu)

1 Diamond Sword with high-level Smite enchantment

Up to 16 Nether Stars

The total Mahu cost across all upgrades will be substantial, so begin gathering early.

Next Steps: Upgrading to Morgan

Once you’ve successfully maximized Caliburn, your next goal will be to upgrade it to the Morgan sword—the ultimate weapon in Mahou Tsukai. This is a separate process that requires your completed Caliburn as a starting point.
