The Ultimate Guide to Tech Reborn

The Ultimate Guide to Tech Reborn

Welcome to the ultimate guide to Tech Reborn! This comprehensive tutorial will walk you through everything you need to know about this powerful Minecraft mod, from finding rubber trees and generating basic power, to constructing advanced multiblock machines and mastering the fusion reactor. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to reach the endgame, this guide covers all the essential mechanics, machines, and power generation methods you’ll need to become a Tech Reborn expert.

Getting Started: Rubber Trees and Resin

The first thing you’ll want to do in Tech Reborn is find rubber trees. These distinctive trees are easy to identify by their tall leaf structure on top—look for the two-high leaf blocks when scanning from a distance.

On these rubber trees, you’ll find bits of resin along the rubber logs. The resin appears as orange spots on the wood. To collect it, craft a tree tap, which requires only planks and a stick. Right-click the resin with your tree tap to collect pieces of sap.

Sap can then be smelted into rubber, which is essential for many Tech Reborn recipes, especially for insulating cables.

Advanced Resin Collection: Resin Basin

Once you have some basic machines and automation set up, you can craft a resin basin. This machine requires:

A tree tap

A drain (made with iron plates)

A compressor machine

Place the resin basin against a rubber tree, and passive resin will flow out periodically into a chest below it. This allows you to set up an automatic sap and resin farm.

Early Game Power Generation

To run all your machines, you’ll need power. Here are the primary early-game power generation options:

Generator

The basic generator is your first machine and uses coal for power generation. It requires:

A furnace

A basic machine frame (made with refined iron)

A red cell battery (uses lead, a new ore)

Insulated copper cables (copper + rubber)

Simply place coal blocks into the generator to produce electricity. Refined iron is made by smelting normal iron ingots.

Solar Panels

Tech Reborn offers three tiers of solar panels, all achievable in early game:

Basic Solar Panel – Made with coal dust and basic components

Advanced Solar Panel – Uses advanced circuits

Industrial Solar Panel – Requires diamond dust

Coal dust and diamond dust are produced by grinding ores in a grinder (a machine we’ll cover shortly).

Water Mills and Windmills

The water mill generates power from water on each side of the machine. The windmill, however, has a specific requirement: it must be placed at Y level 64 or higher to function. At or above this height, it will harness wind to generate power.

Power Transport: Cables and Voltage Tiers

Tech Reborn features multiple cable tiers, each with different voltage capacities and shock properties:

Tin Cable (Low Voltage) – 32 EU/t, shocks players, cannot be insulated

Copper Cable (Medium Voltage) – 128 EU/t, shocks players, can be insulated with rubber

Gold Cable (High Voltage) – 512 EU/t, shocks players, can be insulated with rubber

HV Cable (Extreme Voltage) – 2,048 EU/t, shocks players

Glass Fiber Cable (Insane Voltage) – 8,000 EU/t, does not shock

Superconductor Cable – 536 million EU/t, does not shock, essentially infinite

To insulate uninsulated cables like copper and gold, simply place rubber around them in a crafting grid. Insulated cables won’t shock you when touched, making them safer for player areas.

Machine Configuration: Input, Output, and Redstone Control

Most Tech Reborn machines have configurable sides. When you access a machine’s configuration, you’ll see color-coded indicators:

Orange – Output slot

Blue – Input slot

Green – Both input and output

You can click these indicators to change the direction. Additionally, machines offer redstone control options:

Work only when redstone is ON

Work only when redstone is OFF

Ignore redstone completely

Power input/output can also be configured with similar options.

Basic Machines and Their Uses

Grinder

The grinder is one of the first machines you’ll want to craft. It serves two critical functions:

Produces dust from ores (coal dust, diamond dust, etc.)

Doubles ore output – one ore becomes two dust, which smelt into one ingot each (net gain of one ingot)

You can install machine upgrades in the grinder to improve its efficiency. Coal dust is needed for basic solar panels, and diamond dust is required for advanced solar panels.

Electric Furnace

An electric version of the standard furnace that uses electricity instead of coal. Before crafting this, you can use the Iron Alloy Furnace or Iron Furnace, which work better than the vanilla furnace but don’t require electricity.

Drain and Water Tanks

The drain extracts one bucket of water from an infinite water source. Below it, place a basic water tank (or advanced/industrial variants) to store the water. Configure the tank to auto-pull from the drain above. Tech Reborn offers several tank tiers:

Basic Tank

Advanced Tank

Industrial Tank

Quantum Tank

Creative Tank (no recipe)

Alloy Smelter

Combines two materials to create alloys. Common recipes include:

Copper + Tin = Bronze

Gold + Netherite = Netherite ingots (using Netherite scraps)

Nickel + Iron = Invar

Zinc + Copper = Brass

Auto Crafting Table

Automates crafting recipes. Set up your recipe ingredients in the input slots, configure the output to orange, and enable auto-output by ticking the checkbox. The table will craft items continuously into a connected chest.

Compressor

Used to compress materials into plates. For example, refined iron can be compressed into refined iron plates, which are essential building blocks for advanced machines.

Extractor

Extracts materials and increases yields from certain items:

Gravel → Flint

Lilies of the Valley → 2 White Dye (vs. 1 when crafted manually)

Slime Balls → Rubber

Sap → 3 Rubber (vs. 1 rubber from smelting)

Rolling Machine

Creates items like iron bars, plates, and other component parts. Less critical than other machines but useful for specific recipes.

Recycler

Converts unwanted items into scrap with a chance-based system. Once you have 9 scrap, combine them into a scrap box. These boxes can be opened automatically by a scrap box unloader, yielding one of 140 possible items.

Industrial Centrifuge

Spins down materials into component parts. Some notable recipes:

Methane (from organic matter like potatoes)

Zinc dust → Nuggets

Pods → Sand, Clay, Gravel, Plant Balls

Golden Apple + Empty Cells → 64 Gold Ingots + Methane

Solid Canning Machine

Combines items with cells. Common uses:

Compressed Plant Bowl + Empty Cell = Biofuel Cell

Water + Tin = 10k Water Coolant (for nuclear/later content)

Wire Mill

Converts one ingot into six wires. An excellent early machine investment – much better than crafting wires manually (which yields only three per three ingots).

Block Breaker and Block Placer

The block breaker breaks whatever is in front of it and stores it in its inventory. The block placer gradually places blocks (at 100% progress) in front of it, then repeats the cycle.

Battery Box

Stores energy and can charge electric items. Input power from any side except the front (indicated by a dot), which outputs power. Items like the electric chainsaw, electric drill, jackhammer, and electric tree tap can be charged here.

Basic Storage Unit

Stores large quantities of a single item type. Shows a percentage full indicator. Can be upgraded to advanced, industrial, and other tiers.

Greenhouse Controller

The most complex early-game machine. Press H to view the growth area (shown by cacti markers). Plant crops within this area and add incandescent lamps powered by your cable system. The greenhouse will automatically harvest mature crops and accelerate growth with the lamps. Over time, it accumulates harvested seeds and crops in its storage.

Medium Voltage (Medium Tier) Machines

Once you’ve mastered low voltage, you’re ready to advance to medium tier. This is where multiblock machines come in—structures that require multiple blocks arranged in specific patterns.

Industrial Blast Furnace (Your First Multiblock)

The Industrial Blast Furnace is essential for progressing to medium tier. It requires heat and power to operate, and produces steel—a cornerstone material for advanced machines.

Basic Construction

Build a 3×3 platform with machine casings (standard, advanced, or industrial). Stack three layers high, filling the outer shell. Machine casing tiers are:

Standard Casing – Refined iron, electronic circuits, basic machine frames

Advanced Casing – Steel plates (requires the blast furnace itself!)

Industrial Casing – Chromium plates, data storage cores, peridot plates

You can upgrade from standard → advanced → industrial by replacing casings, or craft an advanced/industrial frame directly if you have the materials.

Heat Generation

The blast furnace generates heat from its machine casings. A standard furnace produces 1,360 heat. To increase heat, place buckets of lava inside (one per level, up to two), adding +500 heat each. This brings the total to 1,360 heat for a standard furnace.

The furnace needs:

1,000 heat for steel (2 carbon cells + 1 refined iron ingot)

1,700 heat for chromium (chromium ingots or dust)

3,000 heat for hot tungsten steel

Carbon Cells and Steel

To make steel, you need carbon cells. Create these in an industrial centrifuge: put rubber logs in, and you’ll get sap, methane, and carbon cells. Place the carbon cells and refined iron ingots into the furnace to produce steel.

Chromium and Industrial Casings

To make industrial casings, you need chromium plates. Chromium dust is obtained by electrolyzing ruby dust (from grinding ruby ore). The electrolyzer produces chromium dust, aluminum, and compressed air cells. Smelt chromium dust in the blast furnace (at 1,700 heat) to get chromium ingots, then compress these into chromium plates using the compressor.

You’ll also need:

Peridot plates – Grind peridot ore into dust, then compress in a compressor

Data storage cores – Relatively simple to craft; check JEI/EMI for recipes

Industrial Grinder

A multiblock upgrade to the basic grinder. It uses water to enhance ore grinding:

Redstone ore (with water) yields 10 redstone dust + small pile of glowstone dust (vs. 8 dust in a basic grinder)

Structure: One level down with standard casing, one level up with advanced casing, topped with standard casing, with a water bucket in the middle.

Assembling Machine

Simplifies complex crafting recipes. For example:

1 Silicon Plate + 2 Copper Plates = Electronic Circuit (vs. 6 insulated copper cables, 2 redstone, 1 refined iron in a crafting table)

Silicon is made in a blast furnace: quartz dust + carbon = silicon. This machine is not a multiblock and is relatively simple to construct.

Chemical Reactor

Combines two liquids or items and a liquid to create new materials. Examples:

White stained glass + red dye = pink stained glass

Carbon + glycerol = nitro coal

Recipes vary widely, so consult JEI/EMI for specifics.

Implosion Compressor

A three-block-deep multiblock made entirely of advanced machine casings with a gap in the middle. Uses TNT to compress materials:

TNT + Redstone blocks = Red garnet dust + dark ashes

The primary use is creating iridium alloy plates:

Find raw iridium deep underground (rare)

Smelt raw iridium in a blast furnace (2,000 heat minimum) to get iridium ingots

Compress iridium ingots to iridium plates

Combine iridium plates + refined iron to make iridium alloy ingots

Compress iridium alloy ingots to iridium alloy plates

Use implosion compressor: iridium alloy + 80 TNT = iridium alloy plate + dark ashes

You can also use end crystals to get small piles of end-eye dust instead of dark ashes.

Industrial Electrolyzer

An upgraded extractor. Electrolyzes materials using cells and electrical energy. Examples:

Blaze powder → Salt + Dark ashes

Peridot + Empty cells → Raw iron + Magnesium

Sawmill

A multiblock that saws wood with water. Place water inside and feed logs:

Acacia log (with water) → 4 Acacia planks + 3 Saw dust

Saw dust can be compressed into wooden plates, useful for storage buffers and other components.

Vacuum Freezer

A multiblock using industrial machine casings. Cools hot materials into their solid form. Critical use:

Hot tungsten steel ingots (made in blast furnace at 3,000 heat) → Tungsten steel (via vacuum freezer)

Also creates packed ice from regular ice and processes helium plasma into helium.

Distillation Tower

Cracks oil into useful components:

Oil cell → Diesel + Sulfuric acid + Glycerol

Oil must be obtained from the world (location varies by modpack or can be found with a pump), as Tech Reborn doesn’t generate it by default.

Pump

Pumps liquids (water, lava, oil) within a configurable range and depth. Replace range and depth values to control its search area. Place next to the pump to pump into tanks or machines.

Fishing Station and Launch Pad

The fishing station placed in water catches fish items over time. The launch pad launches players into the air based on configured speed (low, high, extreme, etc.).

Medium Voltage Power Generation

Tech Reborn offers several power generation methods for the medium tier. Here are the key options:

Diesel Generator

Uses diesel-based fuels. Energy per bucket:

Nitro coal: 400 EU/bucket

Diesel: 24 EU/bucket

Nitro fuel: 48 EU/bucket

Nitro diesel: 128 EU/bucket

Nitro coal is made in a chemical reactor from carbon (easy to produce from logs) and glycerol (from cracking oil in a distillation tower). Nitro diesel is made similarly but yields the most energy per bucket.

While effective, oil can be difficult to locate depending on your modpack. Consider renewable alternatives.

Gas Turbine (Recommended)

Uses hydrogen or methane. Energy per bucket:

Hydrogen: 45 EU/bucket

Methane: 15 EU/bucket

Methane is highly renewable. Produce it by centrifuging:

Rotten flesh → Methane

Bread (1 stack) → Methane

Potatoes (24) → Methane

Beetroots (12) → Methane

Set up a massive beetroot or potato farm feeding into centrifuges, then pipe methane into gas turbines for consistent renewable power.

Semi-Fluid Generator

Uses various fluids. Energy per bucket:

Lithium: 60 EU/bucket

Oil: 16 EU/bucket

Sodium: 30 EU/bucket

Biofuel: 6 EU/bucket

Oil cracking is more efficient than burning oil directly. Sodium and lithium are produced via electrolysis (clay dust for both). Biofuel is made by solid canning compressed plant balls (8 leaves per compressed plant ball).

Thermal Generator (Best for Lava)

Uses lava buckets at 60 EU/bucket. Since the pump can pull lava from the Nether with a massive range, this is essentially renewable. Hook a pump up to the Nether, pipe lava to the thermal generator, and generate consistent power.

Dragon Egg Energy Siphon

Place this machine with the dragon egg on top. It generates power automatically as long as the egg is present. Truly renewable since the dragon egg respawns.

End Game: Matter Fabricator, Fluid Replicator, and Fusion Reactor

The final tier of Tech Reborn involves creating matter from nothing and harnessing nuclear fusion for infinite power.

Matter Fabricator

Creates UU Matter from scrap, which can then be converted into virtually any material. Construction requires:

Industrial machine frames

Titanium and chromium plates

Extractor

Lapatronic energy orb (made from lapatron crystals + aluminum alloy plate)

The matter fabricator consumes scrap rapidly (a full stack of scrap takes only a few seconds). To sustain it, build a massive scrap farm: collect unwanted items, feed them into recyclers to create scrap, combine 9 scrap into scrap boxes, then feed boxes into a scrap box unloader that outputs into the matter fabricator.

UU Matter can be converted into items via recipes in the matter fabricator, such as:

Sawdust + UU Matter → Oak wood

Stone + UU Matter → Diamond

Deep slate + UU Matter → Deep slate lapis lazuli

Fluid Replicator

A multiblock using a ring of advanced machine casings powered by HV cables (gold cables). Place a UU Matter bucket in the center gap, then insert a bucket of the liquid you want to replicate. The machine will endlessly replicate that liquid without consuming the UU Matter.

Replicable liquids include:

Methane

Compressed air

Hydrogen

Carbon

Silicon

Calcium

Carbon fiber

Lava

Water

Beryllium

Glitter

Mercury

Chloride

This is extraordinarily powerful for renewable fuel and cooling fluid generation.

Fusion Control Computer (The Ultimate Challenge)

The pinnacle of Tech Reborn. This machine generates enormous amounts of power and can combine two materials into one, but requires an enormous initial charge-up.

Construction Materials

The core component is the fusion coil, and you’ll need many of them. Each coil requires:

Superconductor cable

60k helium coolant cells

Iridium alloy plates

Tungsten steel

60k Helium Coolant Cells are made from:

Helium (produced by centrifuging glowstone dust with empty cells)

Tin ingots

Superconductor requires the complete upgrade chain: refined iron → steel → chromium (from electrolyzing ruby dust) → superconductor.

Additional components:

Advanced machine casings

Micro chrome heating coils

Radium neutron reflectors (made from 8 thick neutron reflectors + radium ingot)

Thick neutron reflectors are crafted from regular neutron reflectors (made with beryllium) and require significant quantities of beryllium, obtained by fluid replicating UU Matter.

Size and Configuration

Fusion reactors come in multiple sizes, each requiring a different number of fusion coils:

Size 6 (smallest) – 16 fusion coils

Size 7 – 16 fusion coils (1.74x generation multiplier)

Larger sizes require progressively more coils and produce exponentially more power

Choose size 6 as your starting point. Larger reactors multiply the generation multiplier, drastically increasing power output but requiring more materials.

Operation

The reactor needs to charge up before operation. Connect high-voltage power cables and feed energy into it continuously. Once charged (which takes considerable time), you can start a reaction by inserting fuel pairs into the reaction chamber:

Deuterium + Tritium – 40 million EU startup energy required; produces helium-3 at 33.5 million EU per tick

Deuterium + Helium-3 – 40 million EU startup; produces more at 33.5 million EU per tick

Wolfranium + Barillium – 80 million EU startup; produces platinum dust at 2 million EU per tick

Wolfranium + Lithium – Produces tellurium ore

Power generation varies by size and fuel type. A size-6 reactor generates 7,280,000 EU/tick with the appropriate fuel.

Miscellaneous Items and Upgrades

Insert these into machines to improve performance:

Transformer Upgrade – Increases the machine’s energy tier (e.g., LV to MV)

Overclocker – Decreases crafting time at the cost of increased energy per tick

Energy Storage Upgrade – Increases internal energy storage

Superconductor Upgrade – Increases energy flow speed

Muffler – Silences machine operation sounds

Crude/Basic/Advanced/Industrial Unit Upgrades – Enhance storage tiers

Standalone machines that convert energy between voltage tiers. Available tiers: LV, MV, HV, EV. Input high voltage on one side, output lower voltage on other sides.

Wrench

Made from bronze ingots. Use it to configure machine sides and adjust settings.

Industrial Chunk Loader

Keeps chunks loaded and allows machines to run even when you’re not nearby. Configurable radius.

Player Detector

Emits a redstone signal when players are within a configured range. Useful for automation and player-activated systems.
