Multipart Machines Mining Full Tutorial
Multipart Machines Mining Full Tutorial
Welcome to the complete guide for the Multipart Machines Mining mod! This mod lets you mine any resource using multi-block machines. If you’re looking to expand your mining capabilities in Minecraft with automated, tier-based mining systems, this tutorial will walk you through everything you need to know—from crafting your first miner to operating advanced mining machines.
Getting Started: The Miner Crafter
The first thing you’ll want to create is a Miner Crafter. If you have multiple mods installed, make sure you select the correct Miner Crafter block.
To craft a Miner Crafter, you’ll need:
Various ingredients (exact recipe varies)
A World Lantern (crafted easily with basic materials)
Once you place down your Miner Crafter, you’ll notice it has four input slots and one output slot. Inside, you can access the recipe book with four different tabs:
How to make the multi-craft miners
What resources you get from those miners
Crusher recipes
Smelter recipes

Understanding the Tier System
The Multipart Machines Mining mod works on a tier system, allowing you to eventually work your way up to a Netherite debris miner. Each tier requires specific materials and produces unique byproducts (ancient shards in various sizes) that unlock the next tier.
Iron Tier (Tier 1)
To craft an Iron Miner, you’ll need:
20 blocks of raw iron
4 flint
16 oak logs
4 World Lanterns
Place all ingredients into the Miner Crafter’s input slots. The machine will automatically craft as many as possible with the materials provided.

Advancing Through Tiers with Ancient Shards
The progression system uses ancient shards as currency to unlock higher tiers:
Iron Miners → produce Tiny Ancient Shards
Lapis Miners (requires 32 blocks of Lapis + 4 ancient shards) → produce Small Ancient Shards
Amethyst and Gold Miners (use small ancient shards) → Gold produces Medium Ancient Shards
Diamond Miners (use medium ancient shards) → produce Big Ancient Shards
Emerald and Uranium Miners → also produce Big Ancient Shards
Netherite Debris Miner (use big ancient shards) → final tier
This tier structure allows you to gradually work up from common ores to the rarest materials.
Placing and Operating Your First Miner
To place your miner:
Right-click with the miner you’ve crafted
The miner will appear as a large multi-block structure
You’ll see an output slot at the back where mined resources collect

Powering Your Miner with Coal
All miners require power to operate. Unlike other mods, Multipart Machines Mining does not work with mods like Mekanism. You must use coal blocks as fuel.
To add coal:
Use a hopper placed on the fuel port (recommended for continuous operation)
Shift right-click the fuel port directly to add coal blocks manually

Collecting Your Output
Visit the front of the miner to see the ore pile where your mined resources accumulate. Place a chest directly underneath to automatically collect output into storage.

Upgrading Your Miners with Speed Upgrades
By default, miners operate slowly. You can significantly increase mining speed by inserting upgrades into the upgrade slot on the right side of the miner.
Available upgrade tiers:
Wood Speed Upgrade
Nether Speed Upgrade
Ender Speed Upgrade
Creative Upgrade (cannot be crafted; for demonstration only)
Each tier dramatically increases mining speed. For example, the Creative Upgrade will make your miner work extremely fast—perfect for testing purposes.

The Crusher: Processing Raw Ores
The Crusher is a secondary machine that processes ores into raw materials.
To operate a Crusher:
Place it in your mining area
Add coal blocks to the fuel port at the back (using hoppers or manual placement)
Right-click to access the recipe book and see available conversions
Place a chest underneath for automatic output collection
Example conversions: Iron ore → Raw iron, and similar recipes for other ores.

The Smelter: Converting Raw Materials to Ingots
The Smelter performs smelting operations on raw materials to produce ingots and other finished products.
To operate a Smelter:
Place it near your Crusher
Add coal to the fuel port at the back
Right-click to view available smelting recipes
Place a chest underneath for output collection

Advanced Mining Machines
Beyond basic ore miners, Multipart Machines Mining offers four specialized mining machines, each with different mining patterns and applications.
Tunnel Miner
The Tunnel Miner creates perfect horizontal tunnels as it operates—ideal for strip mining. It carves out a 5-wide tunnel in front of it, making it excellent for large-scale resource gathering.

Horizontal Miner
The Horizontal Miner mines directly in front of it in a horizontal direction. It’s useful for targeted mining in specific areas.

Vertical Miner
The Vertical Miner mines vertically downward (and in front of it). This machine is perfect for mining down to lower ore levels.

Digital Miner
The Digital Miner operates differently from the others—it mines ores magically from the area around and beneath it, without creating visible tunnels. Testing on superflat worlds showed it requires natural ore generation to function, as it doesn’t generate ores from nothing.
You can toggle the Digital Miner on and off using its control interface.

Fuel Consumption and Efficiency
Be aware that the advanced mining machines (Tunnel, Horizontal, Vertical, and Digital miners) consume significant amounts of coal to operate. Plan your fuel supply accordingly, and consider using speed upgrades to maximize mining output relative to fuel consumption.
Summary
You now have a complete understanding of the Multipart Machines Mining mod! Here’s your progression path:
Craft a Miner Crafter
Create an Iron Miner to begin gathering ancient shards
Advance through tiers (Lapis → Gold → Diamond → Netherite) using your collected shards
Use the Crusher and Smelter to process raw ores into finished materials
Deploy specialized mining machines (Tunnel, Horizontal, Vertical, or Digital) for large-scale operations
Upgrade your machines with speed upgrades for faster operation
This mod provides a satisfying progression system with multiple mining options to suit different playstyles and automation levels.
