Mekanism Generators Mod – Full Tutorial
Mekanism Generators Mod – Full Tutorial
The Mekanism Generators addon mod adds six powerful generators to Minecraft, each with unique mechanics and crafting requirements. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to optimize your power generation, this guide covers everything you need to know about heat generators, solar generators, wind generators, and more complex options like gas burning and bio generators.
Overview of Mekanism Generators
Mekanism Generators introduces six main types of power generation into the game:
Heat Generator
Solar Generator
Advanced Solar Generator
Wind Generator
Bio Generator
Gas Burning Generator
Each generator has different efficiency levels and crafting complexity, allowing you to choose the best option for your current progression and available resources.
Heat Generator
The Heat Generator is the simplest option available in Mekanism Generators. You only need an osmium ingot from Mekanism to craft it. Simply place coal into the generator, and it will burn the coal to create lava heat, which is then converted into energy.

Solar Generators
Basic Solar Generator
The Solar Generator pumps out power from the bottom depending on how sunny it is. It’s straightforward to set up and provides consistent daytime power generation.

Advanced Solar Generator
The Advanced Solar Generator is slightly more complex than its basic counterpart. To craft it, you’ll need:
Four Solar Generators
Two Infused Alloys
You may also need energy tablets and solar panels during the crafting process.
Crafting Infused Alloys
Infused Alloys are a key component for advanced solar generators. To craft them, use the Metallurgic Infuser:
Place redstone in the yellow slot
Place iron in the red slot
The machine will infuse the iron with redstone to create Infused Alloys

The Advanced Solar Generator generates more solar power than the basic version. The green dot or hole on the front of the generator indicates where energy will output.

Wind Generator
The Wind Generator produces more energy the higher it is placed and the windier the location. For maximum efficiency, place this generator as high as possible and avoid blocking it with obstacles.
Energy output occurs from the front of the Wind Generator. Wind speed varies by location, so altitude and open space are crucial factors for optimal power generation.

Gas Burning Generator
Basic Setup with Hydrogen
The Gas Burning Generator is a more complex option that burns gases to create power. The simplest setup uses hydrogen:
Use a Mekanism Pump (powered) to pump water
Direct the water into an Electrolytic Separator
The separator will split water into hydrogen (left side) and oxygen (right side)
Pump the hydrogen into the Gas Burning Generator to create power
Note: The Electrolytic Separator always outputs oxygen on the right side and hydrogen on the left side. You cannot change these output sides.

Advanced Gases
You can also use more complex gases with the Gas Burning Generator, such as E-filene, for higher power output. These gases require more advanced processing setups but provide significantly better energy generation.

Bio Generator
The Bio Generator is another complex generator option that processes organic materials. To set it up:
Use a Mekanism Crusher to crush melon slices into biofuel
Pump the biofuel into the Bio Generator
The generator burns the biofuel, converting it to bio-ethanol for power generation
You can see the bio-ethanol stored in the back of the generator. This method provides renewable energy generation if you have access to melon crops.

Summary
Mekanism Generators provides six distinct power generation methods, each suited to different playstyles and progression stages. Start with the simple Heat Generator, progress to Solar or Wind Generators for reliable daytime or altitude-based power, and unlock the more complex Gas Burning and Bio Generators once you have the infrastructure to support them. By understanding each generator’s mechanics and requirements, you can build a diverse and efficient power grid for your Minecraft world.
