How to Make Treated Wood in Immersive Engineering
How to Make Treated Wood in Immersive Engineering
Treated wood is one of the most essential materials in the Immersive Engineering mod, used extensively throughout your builds and projects. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the complete process of crafting treated wood planks and treated wood fences, from gathering raw materials to the final product.
Understanding Treated Wood
Treated wood planks and treated wood fences are fundamental components in Immersive Engineering. To create these valuable items, you’ll need to produce creosote oil through a coke oven process. The production chain involves converting coal into coal coke, which yields creosote as a secondary resource.
Building the Coke Oven
The coke oven is your key to producing both coal coke and creosote oil. To construct a coke oven, you need to arrange coke bricks in a 3×3×3 cube pattern. This means you’ll need a total of 27 coke bricks.
Start by placing your first layer of 9 coke bricks in a 3×3 formation. Then create a second identical layer directly above it, and finish with a third layer on top. This creates the complete 3×3×3 cube structure needed for the coke oven to function.

Operating the Coke Oven
Once your coke oven is constructed, you’ll use an engineer’s hammer to activate it. Right-click the central brick of your coke oven with the engineer’s hammer to open the interface.

Converting Coal to Coal Coke
In the coke oven interface, place your coal in the left input slot. The oven will process the coal and output coal coke as your primary resource.

Extracting Creosote Oil
As the coke oven processes coal into coal coke, it generates creosote oil as a secondary resource. This oil collects in a tank integrated into the oven structure. To extract the creosote oil, place an empty bucket into the blue slot on the tank interface. The oven will fill your bucket, and you can retrieve the filled bucket of creosote from the orange output slot.

Crafting Treated Wood Planks
With your bucket of creosote in hand, you’re ready to craft treated wood planks. Take your bucket of creosote and place it in the center of a crafting table. Surround the bucket with wooden planks in all eight surrounding slots. This will produce treated wood planks, which you can then use for treated wood fences and other Immersive Engineering structures.

Summary
Creating treated wood in Immersive Engineering is straightforward once you have the coke oven set up. Build your 3×3×3 coke oven from 27 coke bricks, add coal to produce coal coke, harvest the creosote oil byproduct, and combine it with wooden planks in a crafting table. You’ll now have treated wood planks ready for all your Immersive Engineering projects.
