How to Summon a Floating Island in Ars Nouveau – 1.21.1

How to Summon a Floating Island in Ars Nouveau 1.21.1

Want to build your base in the sky? In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to summon a floating island using the Ars Nouveau mod in Minecraft 1.21.1. You’ll also learn how to scale the island to whatever size you need — from a tiny starter platform to a massive floating continent.

Getting to the Right Height

The first step is to get yourself up to the height where you want your floating island to appear. You can use any blocks to climb up — in this example, mangrove logs are used to reach the desired elevation.

Setting Up the Ritual

Placing the Source Jar

Once you’re at the right height, place a Source Jar at your location. The Source Jar provides the magical energy needed to power the ritual. Make sure your Source Jar is nearby and filled with source — this is essential for the ritual to run.

Placing the Ritual Brazier

Next, place a Ritual Brazier on top of the Source Jar. This is the block that will accept your ritual tablet and trigger the island summoning.

Choosing Your Island Type

Ars Nouveau offers several different Conjuration Tablets depending on what biome style you want your island to be:

Conjure Island (Desert variant)

Conjure Plains

Conjure Island Arkwood Forest

Each tablet is straightforward to craft. Choose the one that best fits your build vision.

Activating the Ritual

Placing the Tablet on the Brazier

With your chosen tablet in hand, right-click it onto the Ritual Brazier to place it. This loads the ritual but does not start it yet — giving you a chance to customise the island size first.

Increasing the Island Size with Source Gems

Before activating the ritual, you can increase the radius of your floating island by throwing Source Gems into the brazier. Each Source Gem you throw in increases the island’s radius by 1 block. You’ll see a counter update as you toss each gem in — for example: Source Gem 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.

Starting the Ritual

Once you’re happy with the size, right-click the brazier with an empty hand to activate the ritual. The brazier will then begin absorbing source from your nearby Source Jars and summon the floating island.

Results — Small vs Large Floating Islands

The default island (with no Source Gems added) is the smallest available size. By adding Source Gems before activation, you can dramatically increase the scale. For reference, an island summoned with 11 Source Gems is significantly larger than the default — as you can see when comparing the two side by side.

Summary

To recap, here’s everything you need to summon a floating island in Ars Nouveau 1.21.1:

Climb to your desired height.

Place a filled Source Jar.

Place a Ritual Brazier on top of the Source Jar.

Right-click your chosen Conjuration Tablet onto the brazier.

Throw in Source Gems to increase the island radius (1 gem = 1 block wider).

Right-click the brazier with an empty hand to start the ritual.

It’s a quick and satisfying ritual that can produce some truly stunning results. Experiment with different tablet types and gem counts to get the perfect sky island for your world.
