How to Find & Kill the Dead King in Iron’s Spells & Spellbooks

Iron’s Spells & Spellbooks isn’t just about casting magic — it also features some exciting boss encounters. One of the first major bosses you’ll face is the Dead King, a powerful skeleton mage hiding deep within a dungeon structure. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to find him, how to fight him, and exactly what loot he drops when defeated.

How to Find the Dead King

The Dead King is located inside a structure called the Catacombs. To find it, you don’t need to rely on an Explorer’s Compass. Instead, Iron’s Spells & Spellbooks includes its own Wayward Compass, which will point you directly toward the nearest Catacombs. Use this to navigate your way there efficiently.

Once inside the Catacombs, explore until you locate a throne room. This is where the Dead King awaits. He won’t activate immediately — you’ll need to land a hit on him first to trigger the fight.

How to Fight the Dead King

Starting the Fight

Any hit from a sword or weapon will activate the Dead King and begin the encounter. Once triggered, he will begin casting spells aggressively. Be ready to move and react quickly as soon as the fight starts.

Combat Tips

You can defeat the Dead King using either spells or standard vanilla weapons — whichever you prefer. The fight is fairly accessible and shouldn’t be too overwhelming for most players. Once the Dead King reaches half health, the fight enters a second phase, though this phase is not significantly more difficult than the first.
