Hexalia Rituals Guide: How to Perform Transmutation & Moonlight Rituals

Rituals are one of the most exciting features in the Hexalia mod for Minecraft. Whether you want to craft powerful elemental nodes, transmute rare materials, or harness the power of moonlight, rituals open up a whole new layer of gameplay. In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly how to set up and perform both the Ritual of Transmutation and the Moonlight Ritual, step by step.

What Are Hexalia Rituals?

Rituals in Hexalia allow you to transform items into entirely new ones using a specially constructed altar powered by crops and moonlight. One of the primary rituals is the Ritual of Transmutation, which lets you convert items such as an ancient seed into a kelp wraith blade, a moon crystal into a sage pendant, or craft elemental nodes from basic materials.

How to Set Up the Ritual Altar

Step 1: Place the Base Structure

To begin, place one Cobbled Deep Slate in the center of your build area. Then, with one block of gap between the center and each side, place Wooden Planks in the four surrounding positions.

Step 2: Craft a Stone Dagger and Create Ritual Braziers

Next, craft a Stone Dagger. With the dagger in hand, Shift + Right-Click each of the Wooden Planks. This will replace them and convert them into Ritual Braziers. Place all four braziers in position as shown.

Step 3: Activate the Ritual Table

With your braziers in place, Right-Click the Cobbled Deep Slate using your Hex Focus. This will transform it into a Ritual Table, which serves as the centerpiece of your altar.

Step 4: Place Salt Beneath the Braziers

Place Salt underneath each of the four Ritual Braziers. This is a required component for the altar to function correctly. As a side note — Salt can also be used to craft Purifying Salt, which removes all negative status effects from the player.

Step 5: Surround the Altar with Infused Farmland and Crops

On each diagonal corner of the altar, place a 2×2 section of Infused Farmland. The ritual can only be performed at night, and all surrounding crops must be fully grown — the ritual draws energy from those crops to power itself. The crops do not need to be Hexalia-specific; regular Wheat works fine, though you can also grow Hexalia flowers here if you prefer.

Additionally, the altar requires access to moonlight, so make sure the area above it is unobstructed and open to the sky at night.

Performing the Ritual of Transmutation

Example: Crafting an Aff Node

To craft an Aff Node, you will need the following ingredients:

Tree Resin

Clay Ball

Flint

Mandrake

Amyfish Shard (placed in the center)

Place the four outer ingredients — Tree Resin, Clay Ball, Flint, and Mandrake — on the four outer Ritual Braziers. The order does not matter. Then place the Amyfish Shard on the central Ritual Table.

If you need Tree Resin, it can be obtained from Cottonwood Sapling logs by using your Stone Dagger directly on them.

Step: Activate the Ritual

Once all items are placed, Right-Click the Ritual Table with your Hex Focus. The ritual will complete, consuming the energy from the surrounding crops. The crops themselves will remain but will need to regrow before you can perform another ritual. You can use Bone Meal to speed up crop growth if needed.

Once the ritual finishes, simply Right-Click the Ritual Table to collect your newly crafted Aff Node into your inventory.

What Are Elemental Nodes Used For?

Elemental Nodes represent the core elements of Hexalia. They are transmuted from Amyfish Shards via the Ritual of Transmutation, as shown above. Nodes are commonly used as crafting ingredients in other Hexalia recipes. For example:

The Air Node, Fire Node, and Water Node are used to craft Storm Idols.

Weather Idols are items that allow you to change the in-game weather at will. There are three types:

Clear Idol — clears the weather

Rain Idol — triggers rain

Storm Idol — triggers a thunderstorm

To craft these idols, you will need a Silk Idol as a base — made using Silk Fibers (obtained from moths found in the mod) combined with any crushed herbs from Hexalia. From there, combine a Silk Idol with the relevant Elemental Node and additional materials to craft each weather idol.

The Moonlight Ritual

What Is the Moonlight Ritual?

The Moonlight Ritual is a separate and simpler type of ritual that uses the power of moonlight to imbue and transform items. Unlike the Ritual of Transmutation, this ritual does not require a full altar setup. It uses a single standalone Ritual Brazier.

Important: The Brazier used for the Moonlight Ritual must not be part of a full ritual altar setup. If it is connected to an altar, the system will attempt to trigger the main transmutation ritual instead.

How to Perform the Moonlight Ritual

Place a single Ritual Brazier on its own, away from any altar structure. At nighttime, place your item — for example, an Amyfish Shard — onto the brazier. Then Right-Click the brazier with your Hex Focus. You will see the message: “The ritual has begun. The item is now being imbued with moonlight.”
