How to Use Drying Silos in Let’s do: Farm & Charm

Drying Silos are essential machines in the Let’s do: Farm & Charm mod that allow you to convert raw materials into fertilizer. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about using both the wooden and copper variants, from single-block setup to massive multi-block structures.

Silo Types and Aesthetics

Let’s do: Farm & Charm offers two different types of Drying Silos: the wooden silo and the copper silo. While they differ aesthetically, both function identically and can be built as either single-block or multi-block versions depending on your needs.

Single-Block Silo Operation

The simplest way to use a Drying Silo is with the single-block version. To interact with it, right-click on the silo to open the door. You’ll see the door open, allowing you to insert materials. Right-click again to shut the door and begin the drying process.

Building Multi-Block Structures

For larger-scale operations, you can construct multi-block versions of the Drying Silo. The maximum size you can build is 3x3x9 blocks. To create a multi-block structure, place multiple silos together and they will automatically merge into a single unit.

For example, you can start with a smaller formation and gradually expand it. Place four silos together to initiate the multi-block configuration, then add two more to create a 3×3 base. You can continue stacking upward until you reach the maximum height of 9 blocks.

Processing Materials into Fertilizer

The primary function of a Drying Silo is converting raw materials into fertilizer. To use it, fill the silo with your chosen material—such as rotten flesh—and then close the lid by right-clicking on it. The silo will begin processing the material.

The processing time takes approximately 10 seconds. After waiting, right-click the silo again to open the door. All the converted fertilizer will pop out, ready for collection.

Using Fertilizer with Tools

Once you’ve created fertilizer, you can use it with a pitchfork to generate massive amounts of bone meal. This is particularly useful for accelerated crop growth and large-scale farming operations within your modpack.

Recipe Options and Mod Integration

The Drying Silo can process multiple materials depending on your modpack configuration. Common recipes include:

Rotten Flesh → Fertilizer

Infertile Soil → Fertile Soil

Wild Oats and Potatoes (processing)

Bone Meal generation

If you have the Just Enough Items (JEI) mod installed, you can press U while viewing a Drying Silo to see all available recipes that your specific modpack has added. This is helpful for discovering alternative uses beyond the standard conversions.

Important Notes

Currently, Drying Silos do not display a timer interface, so you’ll need to manually wait and check back after approximately 10 seconds to retrieve your processed materials. Plan your operations accordingly for efficient batch processing.

Conclusion

Drying Silos are straightforward yet powerful tools for material conversion in Let’s do: Farm & Charm. Whether you’re running a small single-block operation or a massive 3x3x9 multi-block facility, these silos will streamline your farming and fertilizer production. Start with the basics, expand to multi-block structures as needed, and use your generated fertilizer to boost crop growth across your farm.
