EXO-Craft Mod Guide: All Exosuits & Modules Explained

The EXO-Craft mod brings a fantastic collection of wearable exosuits to Minecraft — and refreshingly, none of them are overpowered. Each suit offers unique, stackable bonuses that reward you for completing full armor sets, while still being useful with just a single piece equipped. In this guide, you’ll learn how to get started, how to craft every exosuit, and how to upgrade them with powerful modules.

Getting Started: Lava Crystal Ore

The core crafting material in EXO-Craft is lava crystal ore. This ore spawns exclusively in the Nether at lava level or below. Mine it with an iron pickaxe and it drops lava crystals directly — no smelting required. Think of it exactly like mining diamonds: straightforward and instant.

Crafting Reinforced Iron: Your Foundation

Before you can build any exosuit, you need reinforced iron plates. Head to a smithing table and combine a diamond with two iron ingots to produce reinforced iron. This material provides extra armor toughness and armor rating, and it forms the base of every exosuit helmet recipe.

To craft any exosuit piece, use a smithing table with the following ingredients:

A reinforced iron helmet (or matching armor piece)

An energy core — crafted from a lava crystal, redstone, and gold

The relevant suit unit (e.g., an Atlas unit)

Obtaining Suit Units

Suit units are the key ingredient that defines which exosuit type you craft. You can create an empty unit using a redstone circuit and an Atlas matrix (or the equivalent matrix for other suits). Note that if you are playing in the modded environment without additional mods, the Atlas matrix may not have a vanilla crafting recipe. However, integrations exist for both Energised Power and Industrial Revolution Reborn (also known as Industrial Reborn) that provide crafting paths.

If you don’t have those mods installed, there is an alternative: old units. These can be found in End City chests, Ancient City chests, Bastion chests, or purchased from wandering traders. Simply right-click an old unit to clean it, and you will randomly receive one of the following unit types: Strider, Atlas, Legion, Ogre, or Iron. This means even a single lucky clean could give you the exact unit you need for a specific suit piece.

All Five Exosuits and Their Bonuses

Every exosuit in EXO-Craft follows the same stacking bonus system: equipping more pieces of the same suit unlocks progressively stronger effects. You can also mix and match pieces from different suits, though doing so means you won’t qualify for the four-piece set bonus of any single suit.

Atlas Suit

The Atlas suit focuses on mobility and combat power:

1 piece: Speed I

2 pieces: Speed I + Strength I

3 pieces: Speed I + Strength II

4 pieces (full set): Speed I + Strength II + Resistance I

Legion Suit

The Legion suit is built for aggressive combat, granting increasing levels of Strength and Haste as you equip more pieces.

Strider Suit

The Strider suit rewards fast and mobile playstyles:

Partial set: Haste + Speed

Full set bonus: Haste + Speed + Jump Boost

Iron Suit

The Iron suit is ideal for hazardous environments like the Nether:

Partial set: Haste + Fire Resistance

Full set bonus: Haste + Fire Resistance + Water Breathing

Ogre Suit

The Ogre suit is your tank option, offering Resistance and Strength with more pieces equipped. It pairs well with single pieces from other suits — for example, one Iron piece for Haste and one Ogre piece for Resistance I.

Upgrading Your Exosuits with Modules

Modules let you add specialized abilities to individual exosuit pieces. A blank module is crafted using redstone circuits combined with vanilla crafting recipes. There are currently four modules available.

Snow Walker Module

Crafted with a lever, this module lets you run across powdered snow without sinking. Install it by left-clicking the module directly onto a pair of Iron Exo-suit Boots in your inventory. The module is now embedded into the boots and shown in the item tooltip.

Advanced Visor Module

Crafted with light blue stained glass panes, this module installs onto any exosuit helmet. Once applied, it protects you from Endermen aggression — you can look directly at Endermen without triggering an attack.

Glider Module

This module doesn’t grant full flight, but it does allow you to glide downward when jumping off elevated surfaces. Install it onto your exosuit chestplate by clicking it onto the item. It’s a great way to traverse terrain safely without Elytra.

Deterrence Module

The Deterrence module makes Piglins neutral toward you, preventing them from attacking on sight. Crucially, this works without needing to wear gold armor — a major quality-of-life upgrade for Nether exploration.

Coming Soon: Resistant Coating Module

There are plans for a Resistant Coating module that would prevent dropped exosuit items from being destroyed by fire or lava. As of the time of this writing, this module has not yet been implemented. Keep an eye on the mod’s updates — it may already be available depending on which version you are running.
