How to Make Stainless Steel in Electrodynamics

How to Make Stainless Steel in Electrodynamics

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the complete process of crafting stainless steel in the Electrodynamics mod. Stainless steel is an essential Tier 2 voltage item (240 voltage) that you’ll need as you progress through the mod. While the recipe involves one machine that requires Tier 3 voltage, you can complete the majority of this process at Tier 2. Let’s get started!

Materials and Machines Required

Before you begin, gather the following machines and materials:

Three chemical furnaces

Multiple mineral crushers

One energized alloyer

Salt

Coal

Bone meal

Chromite ore

Steel

Titanium and aluminum (covered below)

Chemical furnaces are Tier 2 machines that consume 7 kilowatts of energy at 240 voltage. The energized alloyer will require titanium and aluminum, which we’ll show you how to produce if you don’t have them yet.

Step-by-Step Stainless Steel Production

Step 1: Create Sodium Carbonate

Place salt and coal into your first chemical furnace to produce sodium carbonate. When using automated input systems, remember to check the IO port configuration: the left slot accepts coal input, while the top slot accepts salt input.

Step 2: Create Calcium Carbonate

Take the sodium carbonate you just created and place it into a second chemical furnace along with bone meal. This produces calcium carbonate.

Step 3: Prepare Chromium Oxide

Chromium oxide is created by placing chromite ore into a mineral crusher. This is a straightforward process that yields chromium oxide and gives you a 40% chance to obtain impure iron as a bonus byproduct.

Step 4: Create Chromium Ingots

Place your calcium carbonate and chromium oxide together into a third chemical furnace to produce chromium ingots. You’ll receive metallic slag as a waste product from this reaction.

Step 5: Smelt into Stainless Steel

Finally, place your chromium ingots into an energized smelter along with steel to create stainless steel. Congratulations—you’ve successfully completed the stainless steel recipe!

Creating Titanium and Aluminum

The most challenging part of this process is crafting the energized alloyer itself, which requires aluminum plates and titanium coils. Fortunately, both materials are relatively simple to produce using the machines you’ve already learned about.

Making Titanium Coils

Titanium is produced in a chemical furnace by combining salt with titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is simply rutile ore that you mine from the world. Once you have titanium ingots, place nine of them into a wire mill to create titanium coils.

Making Aluminum Plates

Aluminum is created in a chemical furnace using niter and borksite ore. Borksite ore is mined directly from the world. Niter is produced by combining salt with peeter ore in a mineral crusher.

Finding the Required Ores

If you’re unsure where to locate these ores in Electrodynamics First Edition, consult the guidebook (EEC First Edition). Navigate to the “Ores” section, which provides detailed information about ore locations, spawn levels, and other important distribution data.

Summary

Creating stainless steel in Electrodynamics is a straightforward process once you understand the step-by-step progression. The core recipe uses three chemical furnaces to convert salt, coal, bone meal, and chromium oxide into the final product through intermediate materials. While the energized alloyer itself requires some preparation, the titanium and aluminum components are equally simple to produce. With this guide, you should be able to efficiently produce stainless steel and advance through Tier 2 content.
