How to Make Alchemical Sulfur in Theurgy

Theurgy is a fascinating alchemy-based Minecraft mod built around the concept of transmuting items into other items using alchemical processes. One of your very first goals in the mod is crafting Alchemical Sulfur — a core ingredient in the transmutation system. In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly how to do that using a Liquefaction Cauldron, Sal Ammoniac, and a simple automation setup.

What Is Alchemical Sulfur?

The whole purpose of Theurgy as a mod is transmutation — turning one item into another through alchemy. Alchemical Sulfur is a key part of this process. Each item in the game has its own version of Alchemical Sulfur (for example, Alchemical Sulfur: Potato), and these are used further down the transmutation chain. The mod is complex on the surface but follows a logical and satisfying system once you get started.

What You’ll Need

Before you begin, make sure you have the following items ready:

Sal Ammoniac (already crafted and stored in a tank)

Liquefaction Cauldron

Pyromantic Brazier

Coal (to fuel the brazier)

Mercurial Fluid Extractor

Mercurial Wires

A source item to convert (e.g., Potato)

Setting Up the Liquefaction Cauldron

Step 1: Place the Brazier and Cauldron

Start by placing your Pyromantic Brazier on the ground. Then place your Liquefaction Cauldron directly on top of it. The brazier needs to sit beneath the cauldron to supply heat for the alchemical process.

Step 2: Fuel the Brazier

Add Coal into the Pyromantic Brazier to begin heating the Liquefaction Cauldron. You should see heat begin generating once the coal is placed.

Automating the Sal Ammoniac Supply

Rather than manually filling the Liquefaction Cauldron with Sal Ammoniac, you can automate the fluid transfer using a Mercurial Fluid Extractor and Mercurial Wires. This keeps your cauldron topped up without any ongoing effort.

Step 3: Connect the Sal Ammoniac Tank to the Cauldron

Place a Mercurial Fluid Extractor on your Sal Ammoniac tank. Then use Mercurial Wires to connect the extractor to the Liquefaction Cauldron by right-clicking both to link them. The Sal Ammoniac will begin flowing automatically into the cauldron.

To keep a steady supply of Sal Ammoniac, make sure your accumulator is stocked with water and Sal Ammoniac Crystals. If you’re using a Cooking for Blockheads Sink, it will continuously supply water, and as long as you have crystals in the accumulator, your Sal Ammoniac supply will remain full.

Step 4: Add Your Source Item

With heat and Sal Ammoniac flowing into the Liquefaction Cauldron, all that’s left is to add your source item. In this example, place a Potato directly into the Liquefaction Cauldron. The cauldron will begin processing it immediately.

Step 5: Collect Your Alchemical Sulfur

After a short processing time, the cauldron will produce Alchemical Sulfur: Potato. You can right-click the cauldron to retrieve the output directly. The Many Types of Alchemical Sulfur

Theurgy generates an Alchemical Sulfur variant for nearly every item in the game, including items from other installed mods. Each Alchemical Sulfur has a set of tags that indicate its rarity and category. Here are some examples:
