Apothic Enchanting Full Tutorial

Apothic Enchanting Full Tutorial – Complete Apotheosis Enchanting Guide for Minecraft

Apotheosis (known as Apothic Enchanting in Minecraft 1.21 and above) completely overhauls the vanilla enchanting system. Instead of being capped at level 30, you can now enchant up to level 100, unlock rare enchantments, filter out curses, and build a fully optimised enchanting setup. This guide walks you through everything — from the three core enchanting stats, to every bookshelf tier, to building the ultimate enchanting room.

Note on naming: If you are playing on Minecraft 1.21 or higher, the mod is called Apothic Enchanting. On 1.20 and below, it is called Apotheosis. The mechanics are the same.

The Three Core Enchanting Stats: Aeterna, Quanta, and Arcana

When you open an Apotheosis enchanting table, you will notice three new stats displayed alongside your enchantment options: Aeterna, Quanta, and Arcana. Understanding what each one does is the foundation of the entire system.

Aeterna

Aeterna determines the maximum enchantment level you can reach. The vanilla bookshelf setup gives you Aeterna 30 out of a possible 100. To push beyond level 30, you need to upgrade your bookshelves using Apotheosis-specific variants.

Quanta

Quanta controls the randomness of your enchantments. Higher Quanta reduces the chance that the randomness works against you — for example, it lowers the likelihood of receiving a negative or unwanted enchantment like a curse on your pickaxe.

Arcana

Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and also increases the number of enchantments applied in a single use of the enchanting table.

Enchanting Clues

At the top of the enchanting screen, you will see a label called Enchanting Clues. These clues reveal what enchantments are hidden behind the symbols on your enchanting table. For example, with a basic setup you may see one clue — such as Efficiency 2 or Tombstone Soulbound — giving you an idea of what one of your enchantments will be before you commit.

Certain bookshelves increase the number of clues you receive. With the right setup, you can see all three enchantments before enchanting, allowing you to make fully informed decisions. More on this in the bookshelf section below.

The Enchantment Library and the Library of Alexandria

Enchantment Library

The Enchantment Library is a block that stores enchantments. To use it, insert an enchanted book to deposit the enchantment. You can then:

Left-click a stored enchantment to extract one level of it.

Shift-click to extract the maximum level available.

Right-click to cycle up through available levels before extracting.

It requires Apotheosis bookshelves to craft, but this guide will cover those shortly. Think of it as a centralised storage system for all your enchanted books.

Library of Alexandria

The Library of Alexandria functions the same as the Enchantment Library but can store significantly more enchantments. The storage limits are very high and rarely a concern in normal gameplay.

To upgrade an Enchantment Library into a Library of Alexandria, you must place it in your enchanting setup with the following exact bookshelf configuration to achieve the required stat values:

2x Infused Sea Shelves

2x Draconic End Shelves

3x Melanchelves

6x Echoing Skulk Shelves

8x standard Bookshelves

Once the exact stat requirements are met, use the Infusion option in your enchanting table to complete the upgrade.

All Apotheosis Bookshelves Explained

Bookshelves are the primary way you raise your Aeterna, Quanta, and Arcana stats. Each tier requires the previous tier’s shelves in your setup to unlock the infusion recipes for the next. Work through them in order.

Specialty Shelves

A few shelves exist outside the main progression for specific stat manipulation:

B Shelf — Quanta +100%, Aeterna -30. Likely used alongside Productive Bees or a similar mod for a specific build.

Stone Shelf — Niche stat modifier.

Melon Shelf — Niche stat modifier.

Hell Shelves (Nether Tier)

Hell Shelves primarily increase Aeterna and Quanta. This is where your enchanting progression begins beyond vanilla.

Hell Shelf — Crafted with a Potion of Regeneration and Nether Bricks. Adds Aeterna and Quanta.

Infused Hell Shelf — Upgraded via the enchanting table. Requires at least 30% Quanta and at least 45 Aeterna. You will need approximately 10 Hell Shelves in your setup to meet these requirements.

Hell Shelf of Masterful Sight — Expensive to craft but adds +2 Enchanting Clues. Highly recommended. With this shelf active, you can see all three upcoming enchantments on an item before committing.

Blazing Hell Shelf — Adds significant Aeterna and Quanta, but removes one Enchanting Clue.

Glowing Hell Shelf — Adds Aeterna, Arcana, and Quanta. This is the best Hell Shelf. Crafted by upgrading an Infused Hell Shelf with Glowstone (may vary by modpack).

Sea Shelves (Ocean Tier)

Sea Shelves primarily increase Aeterna and Arcana. This tier also introduces a standout filtering feature.

Sea Shelf — Base ocean-tier shelf.

Infused Sea Shelf — Upgraded version of the Sea Shelf.

Sea Shelf of Aquatic Filtration — This shelf allows you to right-click it and remove specific enchantments from ever appearing at your enchanting table. For example, right-clicking to remove Sharpness II will permanently exclude it from your enchanting pool until you add it back.

Heart Forged Sea Shelf — Upgraded Sea Shelf variant.

Crystalline Sea Shelf — The best Sea Shelf. You will need approximately 15 Crystalline Sea Shelves in your setup to progress to the next tier.

Deep Shelves and Skulk Shelves

This tier requires Crystalline Sea Shelves and Blazing Hell Shelves in your setup to unlock infusion recipes.

Dormant Deep Shelf — Crafted with Deepslate Tiles and Books. Must be upgraded to the active version via infusion.

Deep Shelf (non-dormant) — The active version you actually want to use.

Echoing Deep Shelf — Gives +5 Aeterna and +15 Arcana.

Echoing Skulk Shelf — Provides Aeterna, Quanta, and Arcana. Also adds Enchanting Clues.

Soul Touched Deep Shelf — Powerful upgraded shelf. May require Warden drops to craft.

Soul Touch Skulk Shelf — The most powerful Skulk variant. Gives +10 Aeterna (up to 80), +15 Quanta, +10% Arcana per shelf, and +1 Enchanting Clue. May require Warden drops.

End Shelves (The End Tier)

End Shelves provide balanced increases to Aeterna, Quanta, and Arcana.

End Shelf — Crafted with Infused Dragon’s Breath. Adds Aeterna, Quanta, and Arcana.

Pearlescent End Shelf — A straightforward upgrade. May be accessible earlier if you have already visited The End.

Draconic End Shelf — Gives +20 Aeterna alone. Does not require a Dragon Head to craft, despite the name.

Deep Shelf of Arcane Treasures

This special shelf gives +10 Aeterna, -15 Quanta, and adds Arcana, but most importantly it allows Treasure Enchantments to appear in your enchanting table — including enchantments that are typically unavailable through enchanting. Be aware that most curses are classified as treasure enchantments, so use this shelf carefully.

Geodic Bookshelf of Stability

This bookshelf provides Quantic Stability, which completely removes all negative enchantments from your enchanting table results. Rather than merely reducing the chance of bad outcomes like standard Quanta, this shelf eliminates them entirely. It is an essential inclusion in any end-game setup.

The Perfect End-Game Enchanting Setup

Once you have progressed through all the bookshelf tiers, here is the optimal enchanting room configuration for the absolute best results:

5x Echoing Skulk Shelves

1x B Shelf

2x Heart Forged Sea Shelves

2x Draconic End Shelves

1x Deep Shelf of Arcane Treasures

1x Geodic Bookshelf of Stability

This configuration gives you 6 Enchanting Clues, eliminates negative enchantments, unlocks treasure enchantments, and maximises all three core stats. You can fill remaining valid slots with standard bookshelves for aesthetics — they will not affect performance at this stage.

Other Ways to Boost Enchanting Stats

Candles and Skulls

If you cannot yet craft higher-tier bookshelves, you can supplement your stats using decorative items. Search for “enchanting stats” in JEI (Just Enough Items) to see all compatible items. Notable options include:

Purple Candles — Provide additional enchanting stats.

Skulls — Grant additional Quanta.

Cultism Candles — Quite effective if the relevant mod is installed.

Tomes

Tomes are items that can be enchanted similarly to books but are restricted to specific enchantment types. The most notable is the Tome of Scrapping, which allows you to retrieve enchantments from an item. Combine the Tome of Scrapping with an item in an Anvil to destroy the item and convert some of its enchantments into an enchanted book at random.

Prismatic Cobwebs

Prismatic Cobwebs can be combined with an item in an Anvil to remove all curses from that item. This is an extremely useful utility, especially when working with treasure enchantments.

Summary

Apothic Enchanting transforms Minecraft’s enchanting system from a simple slot machine into a fully controllable, deeply customisable progression system. Start with Hell Shelves to break the level 30 cap, work through Sea Shelves, Deep Shelves, Skulk Shelves, and End Shelves to push toward level 100, and use filtering, Quantic Stability, and Arcane Treasure shelves to fine-tune exactly what enchantments appear. Supplement with candles, skulls, and tomes along the way, and use Prismatic Cobwebs to strip curses when needed. With the right setup, you will have full visibility and full control over every enchantment you apply.
