How to Dry Tea in Let’s Do Herbal Brews

Before you can brew any useful drinks in the Let’s Do Herbal Brews mod, you first need to collect and dry tea leaves. The drying process runs through several stages — green tea, dried green tea, black tea, and finally oolong — and each step requires a specific crafting and placement routine. This guide walks you through every stage so you always know exactly what to do next.

Collecting Tea Leaves

Tea leaves are gathered by left-click shearing Minecraft flowers — note that this does not work in Creative mode. Shearing compatible flowers will yield tea leaves such as Tea Blossom. You can also obtain tea leaves as a rare drop from Lavender and Hibiscus flowers, so keep an eye out for those while exploring.

Stage 1 — Crafting and Drying the Green Tea Leaf Block

Once you have collected nine green tea leaves, you can craft them into a Green Tea Leaf Block. Place this block on the ground and make sure it has open access to the sky — even glass will obstruct the drying process, so keep the space above it completely clear.

When the block is drying correctly, you will see small green particles rising from it. This is your confirmation that the drying process is active. Drying takes approximately five minutes or slightly less, after which the block will convert into a Dried Green Leaf Tea Block.

Breaking the Dried Green Leaf Tea Block

When you break the Dried Green Leaf Tea Block, you will receive three dried green tea leaves — even though you used nine to craft the block. This means to obtain nine dried green tea leaves, you will need to process 27 green tea leaves across three separate blocks.

Stage 2 — Drying Dried Green Tea into Black Tea

Once you have nine dried green tea leaves, craft them into a new block — the Dried Green Tea Leaf Block — and place it down under open sky. This block will then begin a second drying stage, eventually converting into a Black Tea Leaf Block.

Important: The Drying Process Does Not Continue Automatically

A common point of confusion is whether the Green Tea Leaf Block will keep drying on its own all the way through to black tea. It will not. The drying stops once the first stage is complete. You must:

Break the Dried Green Leaf Tea Block to collect your three dried green tea leaves.

Craft nine dried green tea leaves into a new Dried Green Tea Leaf Block.

Place the new block down under open sky to begin the next drying stage.

When the Dried Green Tea Leaf Block finishes drying into a Black Tea Leaf Block and you break it, you will only receive two black tea leaves — not three. This means you would need to complete the dried green tea drying stage five times to gather enough leaves to craft a full block of black leaf tea.

Stage 3 — Crafting Mixed Tea and Drying into Oolong

Fortunately, you do not need to grind all the way to a full black tea block for most recipes. To produce Oolong Tea, you instead craft a Mixed Tea Leaf Block using:

4 dried green tea leaves

4 dried black tea leaves

Place your Mixed Tea Leaf Block on the ground with clear sky access. It will dry over time and eventually produce Oolong Tea Leaf. This is the final stage in the tea-drying process.
