The Ultimate Guide to Biomancy

The Ultimate Guide to the Biomancy Mod for Minecraft

The Biomancy mod is one of Minecraft’s most unique and unsettling experiences — sitting somewhere between a tech mod and a magic mod, it tasks you with harvesting flesh, growing horrific biological machines, and crafting gear from the remains of the creatures you defeat. If you’re ready to dive into a world of meat, bile, and living blobs, this complete guide will walk you through everything you need to know to get started and thrive with Biomancy.

Getting Started: The Flesh Plunderer

The very first item you need to craft is the Flesh Plunderer. To make it, you will need some bones, any type of raw meat, and a Primordial Core.

To craft the Primordial Core, gather the following ingredients: raw beef, mutton, chicken, pork chop, rotten flesh, a spider’s eye, and an ender pearl. All of these are relatively easy to obtain early in the game.

Harvesting Ingredients with the Flesh Plunderer

Once you have your Flesh Plunderer, equip it and start killing mobs. This is how you gather the unique biological ingredients that the mod depends on. Farm animals like pigs will drop sinew and bile glands (bile glands being a rarer drop). Predators such as wolves will drop sharp fangs and sharp claws. Other predators including bats, cats, foxes, and hoglins can also drop fangs and claws.

Your First Machine: The Primordial Cradle

With your ingredients collected, it’s time to build your first machine — the Primordial Cradle. To craft it, you will need some raw meat, another Primordial Core, and two sharp fangs. Place it down in your world to get started.

Spawning a Flesh Blob

To use the Primordial Cradle, first feed it raw meat to fill it up, then feed it a Potion of Healing. You will see the eye on the cradle light up and bubbles begin to form. Shortly after, a Flesh Blob will emerge.

The Flesh Blob is a living creature that will eat food you throw on the ground and will actively hunt and consume nearby passive mobs. The more it eats, the larger it grows — and the larger it grows, the more resources it will drop when killed. Feed it well before you harvest it.

Harvesting Living Flesh

When you’re ready, kill your Flesh Blob using the Flesh Plunderer (or any weapon). It will drop Living Flesh, which is a critical crafting ingredient for the next stage of the mod.

The Bioforge: Your Main Crafting Station

The Bioforge is the central crafting machine in Biomancy. To craft it, you will need sharp claws, slime balls, raw meat, and the Living Flesh you just obtained from your Flesh Blob. Place it down and open its interface.

The Bioforge interface might look confusing at first, but it’s straightforward once you understand it. On the left side, you will see a list of recipes — everything from building blocks to other machines like a digester. Select a recipe and the interface will show you all the ingredients required. In the top-left slot, you will see a nutrients bar. Most machines in Biomancy require nutrients to function. Simply place raw meat (such as raw pork chop) into the nutrients slot to power the machine. A full stack of raw pork chop provides 512 nutrients.

To craft an item, select the recipe on the left, make sure all required ingredients are in your inventory, and click to craft. The Bioforge does not use electricity — it runs entirely on nutrients (raw meat).

The Decomposer: Getting Your Core Ingredients

Many of the materials you’ll need in the Bioforge — such as flesh bits, bone fragments, and elastic fibers — come from the Decomposer. To craft the Decomposer, you will need sharp fangs, a bile gland, and Living Flesh.

Like the Bioforge, the Decomposer requires nutrients to operate. Place raw meat in the nutrients slot, then insert any item into the input slot. The Decomposer will break that item down into usable biological components. Here are some examples of what you can decompose:

Sugar Cane — uses 1 nutrient, takes 4 seconds, produces 1–2 biotic matter and 1–2 sugar.

Amethyst Shards — uses 2 nutrients, takes 12 seconds, produces 3–5 gem fragments.

Golden Apple — produces mineral fragments.

Various items — can produce lyophic powder, flesh bits, exotic dust, and more.

Use Just Enough Items (JEI) to check the nutrient cost, processing time, and output for any item you want to decompose. The green icon in JEI indicates nutrient usage.

The Malignant Growth: Using Rotten Flesh in the Primordial Cradle

There is an important alternative use for the Primordial Cradle. Instead of feeding it raw meat, try feeding it rotten flesh and then a Potion of Healing. Rather than producing a Flesh Blob, the cradle will instead spawn malignant flesh veins that spread across the surrounding area.

Be careful — this growth will spread on its own. However, it does produce some useful resources:

Primal Membranes — grow on the flesh veins.

Primal Orifices — these fill with gastric acid. Collect it using a glass bottle or bucket. Warning: standing in gastric acid will give you a corrosive acid effect that shreds your armour.

Bloom Berries — grown from primal blooms on the veins. These can be crafted into bloom lights (decorative lighting), or decomposed for bio-aluminous goo and exotic dust.

To stop the growth from spreading further, simply clear it away. It appears to reach a maximum size and stop spreading on its own.

Weapons and Gear

The Caustic Gun Blade

Using gastric acid, you can craft the Caustic Gun Blade in the Bioforge. This weapon shoots acid at enemies and recharges over time. Press V to switch between firing modes — in acid coat mode, you can right-click a mob to coat it in corrosive acid directly.

Acolyte’s Gear

Acolyte’s armour is craftable in the Bioforge and provides the following bonuses:

Resistance to external harmful status effects.

Minus 25% injection resistance and injection damage.

Minus 5% Primordial Cradle hostility.

Acolyte’s armour features a green nutrient bar. To fill it, craft nutrient bars and left-click them onto the armour piece to charge it up.

The Essence Extractor

The Essence Extractor is a weapon you right-click on a mob to extract its essence. For example, right-clicking a chicken gives you a Tier 1 Chicken Essence. You can then craft a Biometric Membrane in the Bioforge and combine it with that essence to create a mob-specific membrane.

Biometric Membranes

Biometric Membranes act as selective barriers — only the mob type whose essence was used can pass through them. For example, a chicken-type membrane allows chickens to walk through freely while blocking players entirely. Other membrane variants include:

Primal Membrane — only living (non-undead) mobs can pass through.

Undead Permeable Membrane — only undead mobs can pass through.

Baby Membrane — only baby mobs can pass through.

Adult Membrane — only adult mobs can pass through (excellent for breeding farms).

The Digester: Crafting Nutrient Bars

The Digester is crafted inside the Bioforge. It converts raw food into nutrient paste, which can then be crafted into nutrient bars. Here’s how to use it:

Fill the left bar with raw pork chop (or other raw meat) to provide nutrients for the machine to run.

Place raw food in the top input slot.

The machine will produce nutrient paste.

Press U on nine nutrient paste to convert them into a nutrient bar.

Nutrient bars are used to power and repair your Biomancy armour and weapons, such as the Caustic Gun Blade.

The Bio Lab: Crafting Potions and Injections

The Bio Lab is another machine you can build using the Bioforge. Fill its left nutrient bar with raw meat to power it, then use it to craft special biological potions. An example recipe is the Insomnia Cure, which resets your last-slept timer and prevents phantom spawning. To make it, you need an exotic compound (crafted from two exotic dust and a mineral fragment, both obtained in the Decomposer), plus bile and sugar.

The Bioinjector

Biomancy potions cannot be drunk normally. Instead, you need to craft a Bioinjector in the Bioforge. Press V to open the injector’s menu and select the potion you want to use. Then:

Shift + Right Click to inject yourself.

Right Click on a mob or another player to inject them.

Extra Items and Decorative Blocks

Biomancy also includes a range of additional items and decorative blocks worth knowing about:

Bioalchemical Fertilizer — functions as an improved bone meal.

Chrysalis — stores Flesh Blobs and baby mobs. Right-click a mob or blob to store it inside. Break the chrysalis and place it elsewhere — the creature inside will be preserved.

Flesh Door, Flesh Trapdoor — animated biological doors for your base.

Spikes — damage mobs that walk over them. Multiple spikes can be stacked in one location to increase lethality — great for base defence.

Pressure Plate Sensors — decorative and functional biological pressure plates.

Bio Lanterns and Bloom Lights — biological light sources for decorating your base.

Flesh Fence Gates and Flesh Ladders — matching biological structural pieces.

The Maw Hopper — functions exactly like a standard hopper, but you can click it repeatedly to extend it with pipe segments, creating a basic tube routing system. Items are transported through the pipes and into connected chests.

Summary: The Biomancy Mod Progression Path

Here is the complete Biomancy progression path from start to finish:

Craft a Flesh Plunderer using bones, raw meat, and a Primordial Core.

Kill predators (wolves, foxes, etc.) to collect sharp fangs and claws. Kill farm animals to collect sinew and bile glands.

Build a Primordial Cradle, feed it raw meat, then a Potion of Healing to spawn a Flesh Blob.

Grow the blob as large as possible by feeding it or letting it hunt passive mobs, then kill it to collect Living Flesh.

Craft a Bioforge with sharp claws, slime balls, raw meat, and Living Flesh. Add nutrients (raw meat) to the nutrient slot and select recipes on the left to craft items.

Build a Decomposer to break down items into flesh bits, elastic fibers, bone fragments, and more.

Build a Digester to produce nutrient paste and nutrient bars for powering armour and weapons.

Build a Bio Lab and a Bioinjector to create and use special biological potions.

Optionally, feed rotten flesh and a Potion of Healing into the Primordial Cradle to spawn a malignant flesh growth and harvest gastric acid, bloom berries, and primal membranes.

The Biomancy mod is a deeply creative and surprisingly deep experience that rewards exploration and experimentation. Whether you’re building biological weapons, farming mobs with membranes, or just decorating your base with flesh doors and maw hoppers, there is always something new to discover.
