Ritual of the Forest Tutorial – Nature’s Aura Mod Guide

The Ritual of the Forest is one of the most fundamental mechanics in the Nature’s Aura mod. It’s the primary way you’ll craft special items and perform powerful nature-based spells. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know — from gathering your first gold leaves all the way to completing your first ritual. Follow along step by step and you’ll have it mastered in no time.

Step 1 – Crafting Wooden Stands

To perform the Ritual of the Forest, you’ll first need to set up a series of Wooden Stands in an open area. Before you can craft them, however, you’ll need Gold Leaves.

Making Brilliant Fiber

To obtain Gold Leaves, you first need to craft Brilliant Fiber. This recipe requires some regular leaves, short grass, and gold nuggets. Once you have your Brilliant Fiber, use it directly on the leaves of any tree. The leaves will slowly begin to turn gold.

You’ll know the gold leaves are fully grown when a small glowing orb of light appears inside them. Once that orb appears, the transformation is complete. The effect will gradually spread across the entire tree over time.

Harvesting Gold Leaves and Crafting the Stand

Break the fully transformed gold leaves with your hand to collect them. It’s important to wait until they are fully done before harvesting. Once you have your Gold Leaves, place them on top of a log to craft a Wooden Stand.

Step 2 – Craft the Book of Natural Aura

It’s highly recommended that you craft the Book of Natural Aura before going further. The recipe requires a lever, a saddle plating, and two paper. Even though you’re following a tutorial, having the book in-game makes everything much easier to reference on the fly.

Once you have the book, navigate to the Natural Practices chapter and select Ritual of the Forest. On the next page, click the Visualize button. This lets you right-click the ground to project a visual guide of the ritual layout, making placement much more straightforward.

Step 3 – Setting Up the Ritual Layout

Now it’s time to place your Wooden Stands in the correct pattern. Here is the layout from a bird’s-eye view:

From the end of that line, three stands go left, then three go right — repeating this pattern to form the full ritual circle.

Adding Gold Powder to the Grid

You’ll also need Gold Powder. To make it, simply place your Gold Leaves into a crafting grid on their own. This will yield Gold Powder. Place the Gold Powder in the grid around the center stand of the ritual setup.

Important note for modpack players: If you are playing a modpack such as All the Mods (ATM), make sure you are using the Nature’s Aura Gold Powder specifically — not gold dust or any other mod’s variant.

Step 4 – Finding Ritual Recipes with JEI

To discover what items you can craft using the Ritual of the Forest, open your inventory and look up the Wooden Stand in JEI. Press U (Uses) on the Wooden Stand, and a tab will appear showing the Ritual of the Forest category. This lists every recipe available to craft through the ritual.

Each recipe will show you exactly which items need to be placed on the surrounding stands, and what sapling is required in the center. Most rituals use an oak sapling, though some — like the Transportation Catalyst — require a jungle sapling.

Step 5 – Performing Your First Ritual (Token of Joy)

The Token of Joy is likely the first item you’ll craft with this ritual. Here’s what you need:

Apple

Iron Ingot

Gold Leaf

Any Flower (e.g. a Daisy)

Torch

Bottled Sunlight

Oak Sapling (for the center)

How to Get Bottled Sunlight

To obtain Bottled Sunlight, use a Bottling Cork in the air while you are in the Overworld. Using the same method, you can obtain Bottled Ghosts from the Nether and Bottled Darkness from the End.

Placing the Items and Completing the Ritual

Place each of the required items on any of the surrounding Wooden Stands — the order does not matter. Then place the Oak Sapling in the center stand and wait for it to grow. You can speed this up using Bone Meal or any other fertilisation method.

As the tree grows, the ritual will absorb the natural energy of its growth along with the power of the surrounding items. Watch as the tree and all placed items are consumed by the ritual.

Once complete, the tree will disappear and your crafted item will appear in its place. The Ritual of the Forest is done!
