How To Make Goggles of Revealing in Thaumcraft 6

The Goggles of Revealing are one of the most useful items in Thaumcraft 6. Not only do they grant you a 5% vis discount when crafting at your Arcane Workbench, but they also let you see vis in the world around you — making them an essential early investment for any budding thaumaturge. In this guide, we’ll walk you through every ingredient and step needed to craft them.

What You’ll Need

Thaumometers (x2)

The first thing you need to craft is two Thaumometers. If you’re unsure how to make a Thaumometer, check the channel for a dedicated guide or follow the recipe in your Arcane Workbench. It’s strongly recommended to craft three Thaumometers at once — two are required for the Goggles of Revealing, and you’ll want one spare to keep and use on its own.

Alchemical Brass Ingots (x2)

Next, you’ll need Alchemical Brass Ingots — not regular brass. These are crafted in a Crucible using five Instrumentum aspects and a Copper Ingot as a catalyst. You will need two of these ingots in total for the recipe: one placed at the top and one at the bottom of the Arcane Workbench grid.

Leather (x4)

You will also need four pieces of Leather. These are placed in a two-and-two pattern within the crafting grid of the Arcane Workbench.

Crafting the Goggles of Revealing

With all your ingredients ready, head to your Arcane Workbench and set up the recipe as follows:

Two Thaumometers

Two Alchemical Brass Ingots (one on top, one on bottom)

Four Leather (placed in a two-and-two arrangement)

Note: You do not need any vis crystals in your Arcane Workbench for this craft — any crystals visible in the workbench during this guide are simply leftovers from other recipes.

The vis cost to craft the Goggles of Revealing is 50 vis at base. However, discounts apply depending on your equipped gear:

No discount: 50 vis

With Thaumaturge Robe Boots and Leggings: 8% discount — approximately 46 vis

With a higher discount (e.g. 13%): approximately 43 vis

Once the vis cost is met, simply take the Goggles of Revealing out of the output slot. Your Goggles of Revealing are now crafted!

How to Use the Goggles of Revealing

Equip the Goggles of Revealing in your helmet slot to activate their effects. Once worn, they provide two key benefits:

Seeing Vis in Thaumcraft Machines

With the goggles equipped, you can see exactly what aspects are stored inside Thaumcraft machines. For example, when looking at an Alembic, you’ll be able to read the aspect names and quantities stored within it — such as seeing 26 Praecantatio and Cognitio — directly without opening any menus.

Monitoring Your Crucible

The goggles are especially handy when working with a Crucible. By adding something like Salis Mundus and wearing the goggles, you can see exactly which aspects are present in the Crucible and in what quantities. Without the goggles, this information is completely hidden — making the goggles an invaluable tool for precise Crucible crafting.
